You can just fit them with the seat in place. Much easier is to remove the passengers seat (4 bolts) and put 3 there, 1 in the boot.

Alex wrote:Told you I was getting tyres lol

Type - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001
Size - 195/50R15
Price - $113/tyre including balancing and fitting from Hornsby Jobson Disc tyre & Mechanical
Dry grip - seems alright but I've only dríven on them for 15 minutes
Wet grip - no idea but it looks like rain is coming
Tyre life - nothing changed on the drive home, as expected
Road noise - suprisingly low,
General Comments - I was amazed they are alot quieter than my old ones which were firestone on the front and the original Michelin pilot SX's on the rear. The seem to take in alot more smaller bumps that my old tyres but it's the same over the really rough stuff. They also seem wider than my old tyres that were the same size, noticeably extending from the edge of the rim instead of being flush :?

EDIT: Rears lasted 22,000km, should have rotated them but forgot  (also had 1 trackday and 1 skidpan day)

Bit of an update
Dry grip - Better than average when cold, great when warmed up. Over the last few months they seem to be harder to get heat into though (could be my driving).
Wet grip - Acceptable, I didn't have any issues grip seemed fine for the street. BUT if they let go then it's like driving on ice.

Just updated my original post.
I'll probably be going for the RE001's again unless I need all 4 (fronts still have quite a bit left but I've been told edges might be too warn to pass rego). Wondering if the edges on the RE001 are shallower to start with or if I should be running higher pressures / camber (mine were at 30 cold with 1 degree camber)

What a scam!

Drove down to Ozzy Tyres in Lurnea this afternoon, and when i come here (having paid for the wheels & tyres upfront), they tell me they don't have the toyos in stock.

Apparently, the only ones they can get me are the falken rt615s.

Or i'll have to wait for 7 weeks for the toyos.

I asked for my money back and and apparently they may be able to get it next friday.

Obviously i am to drive down to lurnea from willoughby again! Only 1.5 hours in traffic one way!

I'm thinking of telling them to stuff it (although the lavinhards look very nice) and just get the credit card company to stop the transaction.

(pissed off)

UPDATE: decided to just ditch the whole deal, as they didn't just make an honest mistake. They were clearly trying to scam me. The counter sales guy was trying to say the RT615s were normally $600/- each and it was my lucky day to get them intead of the R888s

Explained to the guy that the RT615s were quoted to me for $1300/- (incl. the Lavinhards) by their owner, but then he changed his story earlier in the week, saying he didn't have them in the size I wanted (205/50-15) and upsold me to the R888s. Now he wants me to pay the same prices for the RTs as he offered for the R888s...

Although the prices weren't so bad in the end for the RT615s (and those wheels look sweeeeet :( ), I decided not to give my money to crooked people... VERY DISAPPOINTED...

Told the c/card company to dispute it... and will go buy KU36s tomorrow, if I can find them... I NEED THEM, as my tyres have NO grip at all, and I don't want to miss Putty Rd.

Has anyone considered going for the Achilles semi-slicks that mania have put up on their website...?

Same price more or less as KU36, and possible more sticky, but obviously no idea about life, noise and communication... Will it be my uhhhhhh Achilles Heel? :D

I'm just going to chuck either tyre choice onto my NB8A rims for now...

Sorry to hear of your bad exp hamx5ter... the guys were great getting my tyres in with just 1 day's notice as they had to bring in the Toyo Proxies 4 from elsewhere and they were decently priced too.

Maybe you can try getting those wheels by delivery without having to deal with them in person again? (I spoke to one of their admin chicks who sounded like she gave more of a damn about what she does... maybe that was the difference)

THanks Badbong,

To be fair to Huss, the price he FINALLY offered on the set was not so bad... $1400/- for the RT615 & wheels package.

I would have taken it, but they jerked me around forever just to get that point (no refund, wait 7 weeks -> wait maybe 1 week -> send it to you, but will charge you to courier (this when I'm standing there at the promised delivery time) -> we'll do 1400/- but come back tomorrow, etc)... I was just pissed off that they jerked me around so much... I mean, how thick does the counter sales guy (Nathan) think that he could say they are $600/- a shoe (for the RT615s)...

If they make an honest mistake, would be easy enough to admit it, and offer the best they can do in the circumstances... Nobody wants anyone to go out of business, and the prices are not so hot that it's worth spending hours commuting up to get them... The main problem though was that there was nothing honest in how they handled it... which would make me worry about taking anything sight unseen in the future.

As it stands, the transaction is under dispute (through the credit card company)... so either they reverse the transaction or send me the original order (with the R888s :) )

I've only bought the Achilles to go on my OEM rims, so I'm leaving open the option of the Lavinhards if they do decide to insist / go ahead on delivery of the order.

I'm happy to trash the Achilles until the thing is resolved :D

If you want to purchase Toyo motor sport tyres - I recommend you purchase from the motor sport dealers lsted on the Toyo website to avoid situations such as you have described.

Thanks Steve,

I'm a bit of a newbie to all this, so I just googled and rang around... i'm learning quickly though, so when the time comes around again, I'll know where to go!

Thanks for the pointer.

They're great on the street... very grippy and very communicative... they're noisy though..

took it down to my first track day on the 19th, but had loads of trouble working out the right pressures to run...

That said, I'm quite happy with them, esp. now that I know that they like low pressures. There are a couple of threads about them on the forum, which you'll find very useful if you are looking at picking up a set.

They seem to have become very popular on the forum of late. Quite sure you will be happy with them. I am.
