For the past few weeks I've had this clunking noise when driving around town, that I know is coming from the rear passenger wheel area, it reveals itself when the car goes over bumpy things in the road, so I thought it was something not attached properly since we've done lots of work on the wheels with the bushes and servicing the brake assembly on that wheel (still didn't get to servicing the other side yet
) On my drive to Toowoomba on the weekend though I noticed a new noise from the same area... when it accelerates to 100km+ there's a gravelly buzzing noise that sounds like something vibrating and is quite loud, its still affected by bumpiness so I thought still some item vibrating. There is no change in the handling of the car its just a noise. It kicks in at 100km/hr or more or 3300+ revs, though also if you are going downhill (the Toowoomba Range) at 60km/hr in 3rd, as if you're engine braking or the drive is under load, but on flat ground if you accelerate form low speed to 100km/hr+ you can't hear it till over 100.
I've pulled the wheel off several times in the last few weeks to check all the mechanicals there and nothing seems out of order, at first I surmised it might be the brake shield but its attached really stiff as well.
I'm wondering now if it could be something on the way out like the wheel hub or drive shaft on that side, I'm not sure if there would be audible sounds that give things like that away but if those items were dying, would you hear clunkings and buzzings?
I'm soon to take it for a checkup at M5Plus but was wondering if this is something identifiable before I take it to them, it is a little hard to describe well, and a little hard to demonstrate without taking someone for a long drive hehe, and was hoping you may have some insight!
