Air Con line interferring with stut brace

Postby toymx5 » Sat Oct 17, 2009 10:15 pm

Hi,

I just bought a Beatbrush strut brace for my NB8A and when I went to fit it the left hand side bracket fowls the high pressure air con line :( Has anyone struck this problem before and if so is there an easy/inexpensive fix ??

Thanks,

toymx5

How badly does it foul, and where does it foul on the brace?

it;s very hit and miss if they fit, some cars have no problem, some do.

I've looked at about 3-4 different NB8A's, all either 99 or 00 build, and every single one had the line in a differnt place.

one even had the line on the opposite side of the strut top!

for the record, I haven't been able to find a solution yet.

Philz,

It fouls by about 2-3 cm on the bottom edge of the mounting bracket. It's to far to try to bend the pipe out of the way.

I can think of 2 solutions but both would require the a/c system being emptied amd then recharged, firstly I could disconnect the line (from the dryer) and feed it through the cutout in the bracket then reconnect it or if the NB8B pipe fits get one of those. Brighton Mazda always have a few 8B's so I might go down there and check out their lines.

Any ideas ?

Thanks, I might investigate what wun911 suggested about the NB8B line maybe fitting ! If not I'll just have to disconnect the line and feed it trough the brace. Either way I'll take photos and post them for everyones future reference :)

please do take photos, but also a safety warning.

Get the gas removed by a professional before attempting to remove the lines, a/c refridgerant can cause suffocation if inhaled.

yes please take photos, I might need to check mine as well, and see how it cleared the strut brace.
