If my time is beaten, I always vowed to buy another NB8B to re-claim the title. Give me a good reason as justification for my wife  . See ya! Enjoy guys 'n' gals!

I've been tempted to get back down there to try and claim back the record :D

I do basically have a 2F car...just without the motor and the roll-cage

It also only used to do 1:13's until I stopped modifying it and started just driving it. Bum in seat time was a FAR better than any mod I've done... even if you could combine 2 or 3. Another big advantage can be the real racedays like the Mx5 Challenge. Being right behind other cars and chasing them will really show you where your fast and where you need work. Good example was Dennis Brady taught me I could get more speed through the fishhook, so when I couldn't get the car through there as it was that quick.... I softened the rear shocks 2 clicks ( I love my EDFC), marginally changed some preload on a swaybar when we finished and finally got the car through at the same speed (I guessed right that I was JUST lifting a wheel through it slightly). That had me needing to use 5th gear on the backstraight when I'd previously sat on 4th in redline. From memory that was about 3 tenths...and that's one little example.

You can find time in a lot of places by keeping open eyes and an open mind.

5th on the back straight?!
What're you doing coming in to turn 10 being in 5th? Dropping straight in to second?

I have a 4.1 diff on a 6 speed gearbox. I never go below 3rd gear at any point in wakefield...I don't think I use second anywhere at Oran Park or Eastern creek either. Only time I use second is when I fall off the track or in real racing...

I thought the same thing as you Marcus, when guys were telling me on Monday that they were using 3rd for corners where I always use 2nd (ie fish-hook and turn 10). Then I realised they were in 6-speeds, versus my 5-speed ... and the diff ratio in Mark's case makes a difference too. My little NA6 never comes close to seeing 5th gear at Wakefield since my top speed there is 147km/hr (GPS-based). Even at Eastern Creek, I barely touch 5th.

Mark,
I replied in the other thread and then read your post here lol

thats exactlky right, I need to go out in the mx5 challenge and see how I go with faster cars and see where myself is lacking potential.

I'll hopefully be doing mra in december if the car is fine, and I can get my aasa licence in time, that way Im one step closer hehe
I do need more seat time, I guess I havent even had the car for 1 year yet so Ive got a long way to go!!!!

Do you do the mx5 challenge also?
feel free to pm me if ya like!,
Cheers,
Chris

I did every Mx5 challenge event that was at Wakefield this year up until a month or so ago. Hopefully I'll make every one next year but I'm limiting my track time for the rest of the year to save money. I want a tow car for backup incase I even do break something that stops it getting home. Figure renting a car trailor is a LOT cheaper than a tow truck.

Bryan I only just hit 158kph according to the G-tech. That's a modified 1.8 with a very light NB. Funny that all that power and extra modificaton only nets about 10kph.

Wow! I would have thought they'd be much more topspeed difference than that. I suppose the bigger effect is how quickly you get up to speed with that power/weight advantage. :D

Hey Guran, well done for bettering your time.

Each time I get close to your time, you seem to stretch the gap further again. [sigh]
