No.
Has anyone else done it?
Yes, I have. Works fine but I strongly recommend that you go to a suspension shop that is familiar with MX5s and recommended by forum or club members in your state.

Yeah I had some Bilsteins done too. I think they just put it on a lathe and machine a new groove for the perch clip. But yes it was a suspension shop.

I got an engineering company to do mine. Who ever you choose to get it done make sure they know what they are doing. The groove shouldn't be any deeper or wider than the groove thats already there.

If you are worried about the strength of the shock body after adding another groove then another option is to get some aluminium sleeves made up to slide over the shock body so that one end rests on the circlip and the spring seat sits on the sleeve. The advantage with this method is that it's relatively easy to adjust the ride height to get it exactly right by machining a bit more off the sleeve rather than adding untold grooves to the shock body.

Just be aware that there is a lever arm effect on the shock so a 15mm change in height at the shock will raise the car over 20mm. And if you raise the groove to high you may run the risk of binding the spring at full compression which could cause the spring to break.
