my car did a pee pee :'(

Postby Locutus » Fri Dec 25, 2009 1:30 pm

Just went for a short (and slow) blast through the hills district to get to a friend's place but as I was walking from my car, a friend pointed out to me that my car was leaking.

Popped the bonnet, and coolant was running out of the top of the coolant overflow bottle through the little tube which I believe was put there for this very purpose. No sounds of coolant boiling either.

Question is, why did it do this? Car has a cooling pro radiator fitted, coolant was filled to full level. My first thought is that I did not allow enough time for the engine to cool before switching it off, but the coolant trail started further up the street.

Mine did this too, after a spirited drive then parked facing downhill on a customer's drive. No overheating according to the temperature "guage". Levels in the overflow tank back to normal on the way home with no need to top up.

So just normal expansion of the fluid made worse by facing downhill?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)
