That is not the firewall, the firewall is between the engine bay and the cabin, what you want is a hole in the cowl, ie between the engine bay and the windscreen wipers...![]()
My intake is a twisted route for the piping, with the aircleaner sitting in front of the radiator, and it is exactly Gary's dimensions! But it was not easy...
You're right, I just said firewall at the time for a want of a better word.
The CAMS regs don't specifically mention the firewall, i thingk it's more to do with this:
2.6 Modifications: Any aspect relating to the construction, modification and/or preparation of the vehicle, which
is not specifically authorised in the present regulations, is forbidden.
3.10 General: Holes may be drilled for fasteners (eg, bolts, screws, rivets etc). It is permitted to cut holes of the minimum necessary dimension for the passage of wiring, and fuel, brake and oil lines/hoses.
I've never really taken anyone to task on it, but apparently others have had a ruling from CAMS officials before.
I tried to do something similar with my intake but gave up
