7Hazi's NA8

Postby 7Hazi » Fri Jul 02, 2010 7:18 pm

Hey everyone,

Just before I start; this thread is pretty much exactly the same as the one on JDMST so if you read it on there don't bother reading it on here

Anyway, I have been on this site for a while now and decided it was finally time to start a car diary/thread!

The car is a 1994 Eunos Roadster (NA8) and I have owned it since early 2009. It is a personal import. As I understand it some guy living in Japan bought it then he moved to England (and took the MX5 with him) then moved to Australia (and brought the car with him). Anyway now for some pics:

The car the day I picked it up. Paint work was REALLY good for a car that is like 16 years old...

The car came with most of its current modifications (I'll detail them later on). I don't really have any pics of the interior. Its just pretty much the black Eunos Roadster interior (roadster sill plates, tear drop speaker surrounds that were ruined when a previous owner decided they wanted bigger front speakers..., etc) with chrome vent rings and stuff :P. Unfortunately nothing happened for a while mainly because I couldn't afford to do anything to the car  . First 'mod' (not really) came when I sat in the car after some extended periods of rain and found I was sitting on a nice puddle of water. Hard top!!! (I was always planning on getting one, this was just all the more reason to get one quicker!)

Image
Image

The hardtop was great, I found that once I put it on I NEVER took it off. At this point the fake TE37 lookin' fail offset wheels were getting kinda old so I decided I needed some new wheels. I went on yahoo japan pretty much every day for ages looking for some new wheels (something like watanabe's or SSR MKIII's) but found nothing. After a while I got sick of searching and just bought some Work Meisters... lol :P (new of course... ;) ). 15x7.5 +17 O Disk:

Unfortunately before I got a chance to fit the new wheels the car was involved in an accident (not due to wreckless driving or anything stupid, just a friggan unlucky accident:mad: ). I won't go into details but fortunately the car was relatively alright. Most of the passenger side of the car got scratches and dents and crap and needed to be resprayed... I thought that while they were at it they may as well respray the whole car, remove the side skirts, fit the WINGLESS bootlid and fit a stock front bar (the Mazdaspeed one was in pretty crap condition despite the pictures :( ). I was really happy with the work - I think it looks way better without the bodykit to be honest. Pics of it fresh from the paint shop:

Image
(sorry that pretty much every stage of the car has a picture from this angle - I think it's a nice angle on an MX5... )
Image

Car was still looking a bit ghey so I finally, after the 3 months it took for the wheels to get delivered and the couple of months I dicked around getting paint done and not fitting tyres to my new wheels, got some tyres fitted! I decided to go with 205/50 R15 Kumho KU36's as I have heard KU36's are a really good street tyre and I wanted a bit of meat on the wheels (don't get me wrong - I think stretched tyres look awesome, I just don't want to have to dump the car to make the stretched tyres look good ;) ). Anyway, with the wheels on the suspension settings of the previous wheels:

...and finally, car was getting a bit dirty so I washed it

What now?

I will soon lower the car a couple more cm's and adjust the camber a bit to get the wheels to fit nicer. I also have new rear view mirrors coming (one was broken in the incident mentioned above), in the mean time I'm just using an NA6 mirror. Also, will hopefully order an OEM style front lip this week. Then that will be it for a while as I recover from the respray

The future?

Enjoy the car! There will surely be far more modifications though... how could I resist!?!? :P

Anyway, here is a list of modifications (in no particular order as there isn't much there):

Mazdaspeed Type A aero kit (in the garage, lol)
No name aftermarket headers (JASMA)
Mazdaspeed Muffler
4.3 LSD
Braided brake lines
Short shift kit
Tein Type NR Suspension
Front strut brace
MX5 Plus roll bar
Polyurethane bushes (front end only)
Work Meister S1 2P (15x7.5 +17 (O DISK))
205/50 R15 Kumho KU36
Hardtop?
Chrome interior bits

Hope you all enjoyed the brief write-up... There will be plenty of updates in the near future! :D

Heh heh, I do the same, interesting to see the different responses you get between the 2 actually.

Wow. A keeper, until he found something else? You see this a bit in the Roadster community, people travelling the world with their cars. The most popular sports car in the world mind you, it's quite telling IMHO.

Looking forward to hearing more!

love the meisters. the only thing i didn't like about them is how it shows the centre of the hub bore - looks so fugly unless you get it resprayed or make up some centre caps.

apart from that, good story re japanese guy taking his roadster around. i wish my car had that pedigree

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I'm not sure what the original owner moved onto as I didn't buy the car off him (I think I might be the third owner?). Must have had to of been pretty good to make them part with the car they have taken around the world (if that story is accurate) .
pkjai, It amazes me that more people have asked where I got the wheels from than people asking how much they were :P. I got them through JDMConcept (I say through as you can't buy direct from the Work factory).
Sliq, funny that you mentioned that - that's pretty much the first thing my dad said when he saw them  I agree though, it is a shame they didn't release centre caps for 15's - doesn't bother me too much though.

Was bored today so I decided to take some pics of the interior. It's nothing special but I thought I'd share it anyway :P.

UPDATE!

Well, like all plans regarding cars nothing happened too quickly  . Anyway - I got myself a front lip and some new mirrors. The mirrors will be painted black, I'm still not sure whether to paint the lip black (to match the bodywork) or leave it as is. Well here is a pic; the fitment of the lip looks a bit dodgy because I sticky taped it on... lol (I'll fit it properly later). Also note that a set of stock wheels are on the car at the moment (for roadworthy and all that crap).

Your car looks damn sweet 7Hazi!

I'd like to see more pics of your interior if you have em, particularly your gauges, looks like you have some bling in there. :) Wheels are super cool.

Thanks. The gauges are just covers that go over the stock faces. They came with the car so I don't really know much more then that and that they light up blue or green 8) lol. Here are some more pics of the interior - I probably should switch to a wider lens for future pics... sorry .
