Got a set of wheels last night.

ROH 15x6.5 +38

pretty good condition, just a bit dirty, and one has a crack so needs to be repaired (if it's possible)

I test fitted them tonight after work, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how they look!
I'm hoping I can get the cracked one repaired so I can use the whole set.

So, my basic plans are to give them a well needed clean, then repaint them.
I'm thinking Polished lips, silver painted centre.

also, while the car was on the jack I fitted something I had lying around :P

Do I need to roll my guards? :P
(that wheel is going to become a table when I get a chance)

pics of the top.

not bad condition, but needs a few repairs (which I knew of before I bought it)

It came from James' MX5 Centre racecar, which apparently had a bit of a crash at some stage in the past and caused the damage to the top. All fairly mild though, nothing a bit of glue wont fix.

James was brilliant to deal with, and he gave me quite a bargain.

Update on what's sitting here now.

Intake is kinda fitted, mostly there, just need to drill the firewall to finalise it. and put in a washer bottle.

Wheels are still waiting for hub rings

and I've got a seat sitting waiting for me to retrim and fit to the car (OBX Forza)

ok, got the better of me, the seat's in.

for reference, fitting an OBX Forza to an NB is pretty simple, an NA would be even easier.

for the NB all it needed was to drill 2 extra holes in the rail, then to bend the seatbelt buckle assembly out slightly (it fouls on the seat).
the hardest part was bending the buckle, but that just needed some leverage.

Pics.

beforehand though, I must apologise for the image quality, new phone so new phone camera...... the Camera on the HTC Wildfire is to be honest, sh*t.
maybe I've been spoiled by the brilliant cameras that Soney Ericsson put in their phones, but the HTC camera so far has been crap. It's near impossible to take a clear photo (in low light forget it) it seems that it uses a slow shutter speed, and the shape of the phone isn't an easy one to hold steady (although that can be said of any touchscreen)

anyway, this isn't htcphonetalk.com, so back to the car!

Here's the seat, as said a couple of posts up, it needs a re-trim, but for the time being I'm putting up with the torn looks and loving the fact that I've got some more headroom!!
Image

Here's the hot air intake, it's not complete yet obviously, as you can see I still need to drill out the firewall, then I'll fit the longer snout that's sitting waiting.
And of course, once it's through the cowl it will get a much better mounting solution than cable ties. The AFM is properly mounted though, it's mount just needs some paint so it looks pretty.

weird update today.

here's my newest purchase..... an air freshener.

now usually I'm not a fan of Air fresheners that hang off the mirror..... but for these I jsut HAD to make an exception.

Image

they're basically brand new air fresheners done in an old style, they actually look quite authentic even down to the packaging.

as a bonus they even smell alright! (although a little strong, the smell from the one in my car with only one window down has managed to take over a 2 car garage)

I've got it hanging off the passenger sunvisor mount, on the mirror got in the way of vision.

(also, before it's said, yes I liked them so much I got a few, some are Pam's though)

price..... $6 for a pack of 3, with free postage.

Nice work on the Air Fresheners Nic, they match your 'T' shirt.

So looking down this page you have 2 sets of wheels to go on  Both are awesome... though I think the ROH's would look good with the polished lip but a kinda gold centre... should go good with the cars flavour of blue.

Good loots on this page! And great car overall mate. :)

Congrats on the xmas pressie! I'm thinking about getting a set of the MS-03s as well. I'm not sure my significant other would be too happy with the idea of gifting them though...

yeah, they are a great wheel Lee, the suit the MX5 perfectly!

when you're looking to buy contact Dan/Rupewrecht from AstinaGT, he's a great guy.
I'm pretty sure he's got a set of 15x7+38 in stock at the moment. they've already got tyres, but not sure on how they are.
just make sure to test fit them first, I know the 15x6.5 fit's perfectly, but I remember a mate's NA had rubbing with the 7s (he was pretty low though)

anyway, a few weeks back I changed my gearbox and diff oil, nothing special, just used Castrol oil.
it's a surprisingly easy job, and apart from the need to buy/borrow an oil pump thing it's really simple.
so yeah, that's made a little bit of difference to shift feel. not much, but it's not quite as notchy now.

Today's job was to do an oil change, MY DEAR F**KING GOD I HATE OIL FILTERS!
warm up car, undo oil cap, undo sump plug, discover the sump plug washer had pretty much welded itself to the sump plug.
so after I chiselled that off and went and bought a new one I set about removing the oil filter.....

turns out the guy (ahem..... me) who did the last oil change decided to tighten it so much that even god himself couldn't remove it.
after 4 HOURS of battling it FINALLY started to shift.

all smooth sailing from then on, new filter put on (hopefully not tightened too much), and a nice bottle of Elf Comp 10-40 was poured in.

so yeah, I did have plans of giving the car a well deserved wash and wax, but after the filter battle I cant be flocked, so here I am being a lazy nerd on the internet.

I'll see the locals tonight!
