Gussys Mazdaspeed B-Spec NA Roadster

Postby gussy » Mon Aug 30, 2010 8:56 pm

So, I guess it's about time that I formally introduced myself and my car. My name is Fergus and I live in Brisbane. A MX5 is one of those cars I've always heard good things about so a few months back I went out and bought one. I searched a few months for a nice one and this popped up at the right time. Been driving Bmw's for over 13 years and my last car was an Audi S3 which was dull and inert to be honest. The Roadster feels scalpel sharp in comparison. Anyway, here's a few pics of my car:

It's a special edition Mazdaspeed B-spec version Eunos Roadster with a few goodies:
1.6 N/A (130 bhp)
Mazdaspeed 4 branch manifold
Mazdaspeed full exhaust
Mazdaspeed clutch type LSD
Mazdaspeed ECU
Mazdaspeed oil cap and radiator cap
Few more interior bits of bling

Also has KYB adjustable shocks, uprated 1.8 brakes all round, and lowering springs.
Had it on the track a while ago and I was very impressed with it. Very twisty track so it was pretty good to keep up with a guy with 450 bhp XR6 ute and quite a few more exotic machinery.

I have ordered a lot of stuff from the Uk for it. I have a set of Work Equip 03's to go on and I'm looking forward to getting it to the track more. I'm currently waiting for MX5 Plus to get back to me with a price on an accelerator bracket as I broke mine while doing some driver training / skid pan at Gympie. I had to hold the throttle body open at around 3000 rpm using zip ties and attach my shoe lace to the broken pedal and tug on it in order to give me more oomph when needed on the 180k drive home. Got home fine, anyway, ha.
Looking forward to meeting you all.

Looks fantastic gussy. Question: Is your CAI going through the firewall under the washer bottle? If so, is it still protruding into that cavity below the windscreen (under the plastic cowling)?

I'd say it looks like just a pod with no hole in the firewall.

Very nice car though. Were you the new owner that just picked it up recently or have you had it for a while?

These are the type of wheels - 205 / 50 / 15. Had to wait a week or so to get slim wheel lugs from the US. Should be putting them on soon.

Yea, no hole in the firewall. It's a job I'm going to get around to - I presume it's sucking in a fair bit of engine bay heat so I will try and do a cold air pipe soon. Yea, I bought it about 3 months ago so I would have bought it from the previous owner who was on here.

Oh ok! Size as above, the offset is +37, sits beautifully when I test fitted one on the front and rear.
