Looks like a nicely packaged product! Why not stick the magnetic antenna base onto the top of the windscreen surround? You could also tuck the cable away neatly within the rubber seal.

Yep, eventually I'll hard wire it into the car and put a seperate power switch next to the logger, just need to get a switch and fuse. This just gets me up and running for Lakeside next weekend.

I had considered just putting the antenna on the top of the windscreen surround, but I wanted to give it the best possible chance of picking up every available satellite. The antenna actually gets very little positional or speed information from satellites directly above, it gets far more info from satellites on, or near the horizon.

Finally got around to corner weighting my car last night. Topped the fuel up to half a tank, set the tyre pressures to 30psi all round and put 70kg of ballast into the drivers seat and footwell.

The car was actually pretty good in terms of cross weights, with an initial reading of 51% LF/RR and 49% RF/LR. The big surprise for me was the total weight of 1036kg including driver and half a tank of fuel (essentially 966kg without driver). The only other time I'd had it on the scales was at it's first race meeting just over 12 months ago and it weighed in at just on 1000kg without driver and half a tank of fuel, so I'd managed to take 34kg out of the car somehow. I had removed a few things and installed lightened flywheel etc but never thought it would be near that amount. I'm wondering how accurate the scales at Morgan Park are?

Anyway, after spending an hour tweaking the car we actually ended up pretty close to the original reading with cross weight percentages of 50.9% LF/RR and 49.1% RF/LR. We could have got it a bit closer to 50/50, but it would have meant changing the ride heights too much. Eventually I will buy a lighter battery to replace the existing battery and move it to the passengers side of the boot. This should give me a total weight of about 960kg without driver and very close to 50/50 cross weights.

Yep, I'm a firm believer that certain gadgets can be very helpful in getting the most out of the driver and car, and that in turn your lap times can be greatly improved as a result. I'm certain they've played a part in me being reasonably competitive in the 2F class despite only having a standard engine in the car, then again it could be just driver talent :mrgreen:

Unfortunately I can't afford these scales, but a friend kindly lent them to me. As for the data logger, hopefully it'll pay for itself over time with some valuable information.
