Snap

I bought this about 2 months ago. The photos don't do it justice - I need to take some good ones and include the engine bay. The guy I bought it from walked to work and drove it on Sundays.

All good fun. It turns head and kids smile at it :)

Superb, and not the four wheel drive version like the one from NSW!(Which is in incredible condition)Supports the fact that the Wangaratta guy did do some suspension work.

Wow, that car really polished up well, it almost looks like it glows. Its so cool to see someone who puts so much effort into detailing their car, such as removing all the lights and all.
Good on ya, this car is going to be stupidly clean by the time you are done with it.

It's a sunday, and Christmas must have come early..

Look what greeted me this morning!!!

Was really easy to set them up as I had a spare set of strut/springs so it all could be done with time and patience without a need for teh car to be off the ground and strutless for prolonged period of time..

i have assembled them and intend on fitting them tomorrow....

Set the ride height at about 330ml front and 333-335 rear as measured from centre of axle to wheel arch and front 10 off hard and rear about 7 off hard and see how you go,

Enjoy ,

Cheers, Peter.

It was amazingly easy to install. They took me 4 hours in total to fit. I even stopped for lunch, and this was all on my own.

Big thanks to the guide on ClubRoadster.net. An excellent tutorial, and minimal fuss/requirements.

I set them up as per manufacturer's instructions in unladen state (23mm from bottom of base to lower lock ring, and 8 clicks from full clockwise). Seems to sit far too high for my liking, and I'm waiting for it to settle over the next few weeks.

I also am waiting for that to occur before I get it aligned.

I went for a short blast, and earlier predictions are bang on.. it is amazingly compliant, but tail happier than before... heaps of fun. I think once it settles and I set it up (or is that have it set up) it will be much nicer...

so after a day of TLC and therapy for me on the Fiat spider yesterday, Today I turned my attention to the MX5.

I used up a can of Subaru upper engine cleaner, and yes, it did blow out a stack of smoke. could even see some of the foam backfilling and that was also coming out blackened, so it must be doing something....
I hope that this cures a bit of the rattle on cold start (Like a HLA noise, but have since read a mazda TSB on upper engine carbon build up etc that recommends the cleaning procedure).

Popped the car up and removed the hot, and blackened engine oil. Oil filter also out (is there an easy mess free way of doing this?). Whilst at it I fitted a new Air filter.

A bit of a drive and all seems nice and dandy, a bit freer revving and smoother. Dunno about the cold start up as the engine was not stone cold when the new oil went in...

Next time I get around to it I'll attend to the gearbox oil.. Looking at some Redline MT90 or Shockproof.....

was fun, and far too easy to pay someone else to do it for me....
