Re: Joe's NA6
Car is looking unreal man! loving it slammed on coilovers, though the cracked guard sucks man. I can't believe it only took a vicious pot hole to crack the hell out of the paint like that. have you quoted up repairs yet? Otherwise it's looking unreal.
Also thanks for the motivation, I'm going to start updating my build thread (that nobody reads lol)

Re: Joe's NA6
Thanks guys.
I started trying to fit my roll bar this afternoon. Got as far as getting my sub and most of the rear carpeting out before getting stuck trying to get the box out. There just kept being more bolts
Will have another crack at it during the week and hope to have it finished by the weekend.

Haven't dríven to to work since putting them in, drive the girlfriend's Prelude as the daily at the moment. Most kms it would have done around town would be trying to leave Canberra for the coast last Friday afternoon at peak hour. Was mostly moving far too slowly to notice anything though sorry.

Re: Joe's NA6

Turns out the sub didn't need to come out, so it went back in. Roll bar is now in, only need to retorque all the bolts tomorrow before putting the carpet back in.
Also made my way out to the Sutton Road hillclimb track on the weekend to have a look. Left with a membership form

Wakefield on Sunday!

Re: Joe's NA6
Only a quick update as I don't have internet at home for the next few days and I feel bad doing this at work
Wakefield was good yesterday, it stayed dry and managed to drop my PB down to 1:17.72. Failed scrutineering as my battery catch had broken in two. Borrowed a pair of tie downs and all was well. Coilovers were left in the middle of the range for hardness settings and I didn't touch them all day. Did this as I wanted to get a baseline feel for them before I started playing with it. Car felt much stiffer overall though.
First session was all over the shop, tyre pressures were checked before the run (37 cold) but ranged from 41-49 afterward. Got them back to 40hot all round and checked them again before the next run, felt much better. Came off a few times but no spins. Rarely got held up or held up others. As always, met a few new people and put IRL faces and names to some interwebs people. Good times all round
Speedo stopped working on the first lap of the last session so I assume I broke the cable. Will check it out through the week.
Photos from D4NM4C! Thanks mate, will have to catch up for a drive at some point.

Re: Joe's NA6
My old boss just bought the Royal Hotel in Bungendore a few weeks back so my girlfriend and I headed out there for lunch yesterday. My car hasn't moved much recently so it was nice to take it out for a 'Sunday drive' ;) I hardened up the coilovers a few notches before we left and it certainly made a difference. Felt much more direct and communicative.

Re: Joe's NA6
Fix it Sunday! Very little to do today so I managed to sort out a few minor things with the car.
First up was that my central locking on both sides started playing up about a month ago and then the inside locking latch on the passenger door stopped working too. Started with the controller box under the dash but it appeared fine; took the passenger door trim off and found our first problem, the mechanism had come away from the inside locking latch. Reattached that and three on a cable tie for good measure. A little bit more looking and discovered that one of the wires had come unplugged from the actuator. As this had happened before, I decided to cut the spade terminals out and just hard solder the connection. All was then well on the passenger side.
Then moved over to the drivers side and immediately found the problem, the rod connecting the actuator and the locking rod was in two pieces. Pretty sure I've got something remarkably similar lying around at work so that should be an easy fix.
At the last track day I discovered the catch that held my battery in had broken. I always found the stock catch to be a real bitch to get in or out, so I decided to take this opportunity to improve upon it. Got rid of the whole catch system and just replaced it with two tie downs. It is now significantly easier to take the battery in or out and if anything, it hold the battery in place even better.
While on the way to a mates wedding yesterday the car developed a nice high pitched squeal, sounded like a belt slipping. Get the car up on stands today to have a look at it and of course the noise isn't there. Let it run for 10 minutes, nothing. took it for a 15 minute drive, nothing. Not sure what I did but I'm claiming it as a success!
While up on stands I also took the opportunity to massage the front passenger guard again. I clipped it a few times coming into turn 5 at the last club day but all is well now.
Still haven't touched the speedo problem. Did some searching about the interwebs but as I have no idea what I'm doing here, figured I'd be better off calling in to see the Carco lads some time this week.
All in all though, I'm happy with the day. It's always fun to get out to the garage and try to tackle these little things from time to time.

Re: Joe's NA6
So apparently the problem with the speedo was that the sender cable had popped off the gearbox. Russ plugged it back in and all was well
Also got him to replace the front pads + bleed the brakes, and fixed a leaking seal since they already had the car for the day.
More sad about missing the day on Sunday now.
