Wow, fantastic photography work George! And the car is gorgeous!

Is that heavenly road in the Royal National Park by any chance? :P

Why thank you. :) And yes, it's the first car park as you come out of the park.

For sure. Only I just sold my camera yesterday. A brand new shiny one is due next week though. :) Still keen to go for a run on Sunday morning if you guys want. Nothing too super early but early enough. Say 7:30 meet at Sylvania maccas? Or we can wait until I get my new camera and go for a real early run and catch the sunrise. Should be pretty nice out there as the sun rises.

I had a look at some of your other shots on Flickr, very nice. What camera have you upgraded to? Sticking with Canon?

Finally bit the bullet and got a 5D Mk2. Really looking forward to it but now I'll 'need' some better lenses and one of them costs more than the camera itself.

Ah, very nice..! I've been very tempted to get one for a while... I've shot video on them before and love the quality of that. But like you I know that if I got one I'd spend far too much on lenses... It's all worth it if you use it enough and get the most out of the camera though.

This year i've shot a few short films on 16mm and have fell in love with film, so I decided to start getting into 35mm SLRs and have bought myself a small collection of cameras and lenses to have a play with. In a lot of ways I much prefer the look of film in most applications and it makes taking a photo a lot more of an event than digital.

I know exactly what you mean. For about a year I primarily shot film, both 35 and 120. I love the whole process from slowly composing each shot, to developing it and the expectations of each frame.

My favourite camera, even over any dslr, is the Olympus OM-1. Such a pleasure to use. It has the speed ring right where the lens mount is. So if you can imagine, you have speed, aperture and focus all on the barrel. Makes for quick and easy adjustments while you look through the life size 1x viewfinder. Every dslr user that has peered through those viewfinders has been envious. Let's not even get into the massive medium format viewfinders.

As tempting as it sounds, it's double points weekend. :frown: What do you say we leave it for another weekend? I'll have the camera soon as well. :)

You've shot medium format! Very nice! I've wanted to do that for a while as the creative control you can have is limitless, cost is a prohibitive factor though... It's expensive enough to shoot 35mm, but justifiable as the cost to buy the cameras and lenses is quite reasonable as they're out of fashion. I just did a bit of reading on the OM-1, looks like a lovely camera and I can see what you mean about ease of use. I'm quite impressed actually! I'll have to keep an eye out for one. Have fun with the 5d Mk2, I look forward to seeing what you do with it!

This was just a quick test of an old lens I've had laying around. It's older than me.
