Air Cond problem NA6

Postby lsducati » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:48 pm

I picked up my first MX5 on Saturday, its a 1992 NA6 import, in fair condition. Today I had all the fluids replaced by my mechanic and had him look at my air conditioner as it was not working. It turns out the A/C button works and the fan comes on and you can hear the engine idle increase as you turn the switch on but according to my mechanic there is no power getting to the compressor.

He bypassed the wiring and directly connected power to the compressor and the system works fine with cold air coming out of the vents. There seems to be a break somewhere in the wiring to the compressor even though all other aircond related functions seem to happen and before I spend more money at an auto electrician I thought I would ask on here is anyone has had a similar problem

My only other concern with the vehicle is syncro into second gear appears to be on the way out.

Fortunately mine is working in this best wave, have you fixed the issue? I notice a large decrease in throttle response/power with AC on

My aircond problem was resolved by my guy. He found it was bad contacts in a relay and now it all works. Very happy to have cold air in this Perth summer.
