Significantly raised the car on Tuesday and got a new alignment. Doesn't look as good, but should hopefully handle much better.

Super keen for the day at Marulan this weekend.

Well that was freaking awesome. Had an absolute ball on Sunday at Marulan. Twas a brilliantly run day, on a really cool track. The car performed much better with the new height/alignment.

What kind of roll bar is that? Looks very low in relation to the top of your helmet...

You know, I've never noticed that before but it really does. I'll blame the seats as they sit quite a bit higher than the stock ones. I had to buy lower mounts because originally my helmet would run on the soft top and wouldn't fit at all under the hard top.

The bar is an MX5+ torque box.

Had my first run out at the SDMA hillclimb today and my first ever wet track experience. It was raining during the drivers briefing but that stopped by the time the first runs came around. Track was still quite wet for the first run, kinda wet for the second and basically dry for the third, fourth and fifth. Started to sprinkle as I was staging for my sixth run and I was about half way down the run order, then absolutely bucketed down just after I finished. My housemate was about 5th last and the track was saturated by the time his came around.

Best time for the day was 54.0something. That puts me about 4seconds behind an NB with similar levels of modification but a significantly better driver and about a second slower than the fastest stock NA.

Rather productive day today.

Fitted my tow hooks I got from the Mitch_f1 group buy a few months back.
Rotated tyres.
Fixed my amp that got run over at the last Marulan day.
And entered in a Motorkhana for next weekend.

All in well, went well.

I really like this pic man. I hate saying things like this because they sound so corny but being honest here, it actually inspires me to get my stuff together and get to the track. I've been dying to see a track day and due to my own procrastination I keep pushing it away because I'm too poor or uni is in the way.
But really.. Maybe I'm just making excuses.
You're build thread is coming along really good Joe, keep it up. I can't wait to see what's on the cards next.

Thanks mate. I always found it hard to work around uni but it's gotten much easier since I graduated and got a real job.

Yeah I'm still yet to get a 'real job'. Though I'm looking at getting some nursing work sometime soon, just a bitch getting hours in while studying. The higher income would make mx5 stuff (and life in general) so much easier to manage lol.

Had my first motorkhana today and had all of the fun. Had a few fastest times on a few different courses at different points throughout the day (normally right up until a Lotus 7 had a turn) and I fared far better than I thought I would against some far nicer cars. All in all the car ran really well, I didn't break anything and had fun. Successful day!

Went for a run out to Bathurst through Goulburn/Oberon yesterday to visit a mate who moved up there a few months back, and then back today. My housemate in his MX6, a mate in a 260Z and I all left Canberra around two with perfect conditions. I had been told that the road from Goulburn to Oberon was a nice piece of road, but holy crap was I not expecting that. Gradient changes that make Macquarie Pass look almost level; 1st gear corners and for yesterday at least, very little traffic. This section here was particularly impressive.

On the way home today we decided to take the Cowra-Boorowa route home as it was bucketing down with rain when we left. Did manage a once around Mt Panorama before leaving town though :D

Also, a few patches of road works on the way home...

Made myself a camera mount and changed the oil today. Oil was as fun as ever but I'm pretty sure I'm getting better at the contortionist act required. Camera mount has been something I've been contemplating for a while and finally got around to doing it.

I basically diy'd a C-clamp. 25mm aluminium strip + a length of 8mm threaded rod + 4 nuts + self adhesive foam + an M6 bolt to mount the camera itself. Was as uncomplicated as it looks; all I did was bend the aluminium strip to make a C, cut it to length, drill some holes, cut the rod to length and I was done. To mount it was simply a case of bolting the camera to the C, slotting it over the bar, inserting the threaded rob and tightening the nuts. Pics should explain all really.

After it was all in place I drilled a few more holes in the top of the C to run cable ties through. The camera certainly didn't want to move of it's own accord but I figured it couldn't hurt to have a fail safe.
