Re: Yellow Speed Racing coilovers
The bumpiness goes away and mine dropped a little when they settled in, I needed to raise the rear of my car after it settled in. You really need to run them a bit harder than the factory recommendations in my opinion though, around 20 clicks is good for street.

reflex wrote:Hi David, i've had my YSR's in for only a few days. I set the dampening adjusters to the factory reco for daily street driving and feel that ride quality on Sydneys freeways and ruralish back roads its great, however on the princes hwy through tempe, parra road etc, the sharp bumps / pot holes / road repairs do crash through a bit. My wife describes the car as "too bouncy" but shes only in it 20% of the time.
As for you wanting to go lower in the rear, i can tell you that at full drop, I have a hub centre bore to guard measurement of 350mm which is only about 20mm lower than stock, and I am very dissapointed in this. The fronts are set to 340mm HC to G and have alot of adjustment remaining up or down, so for the rears to be full down at 350mm i'm not sure you'll be happy.
Having said that, a 20mm drop argueably keeps the ride height legal (obviously i'd need to bring the fronts up, which i'll do if the rears don't settle any lower).
For reference I have a 2006 PRHT with whiteline sways. I removed tein S-tech springs on stock shocks to upgrade to the YSR, and the Tein ride height in the rear was great (331mm HC to G) but the front was about 345 HC to G which left it looking like it was dragging its bum, now it looks like a top fueler!
i had said that I was willing to test run these as the price was so good, and depending on how the rears settle in, I might just consider going to the highly recommended Eibach Prokit springs on Tokico HTS shocks as I don;t know if I could justify spending another $1500 or more on Tein superstreet coilovers.
Thats my 2 cents, I know there is another forum member who recently had the YSR installed so he may have a different opinion.
Thanks for your feedback. Great information.
I will discuss with MX5 Mania, and report back.

Hi Reflex
out of interest - are they the pro-sport or premium.
i am in the market for some and want to go lower for the track. as the car isnt registered, 'legal' isnt a requirement.

I agree with this. The factory 12/8 clicks isn't stiff enough for my liking. I doubled the damper to 24/16. It's firmer but it's not harsh. Some points of the Midland highway are a bit bouncy but compared to my old lowered springs these are a walk in the park. I think they're pretty cruisy.

I'm guessing he is on premium comps as i am, the rear adjustment is very poor compared to the front.
Just a tiny bit lower stock when set all the way down.

Will also try and adjust my damper tonight and see how it feels, i thought they would of settled in by now down over 1k.

Re: Yellow Speed Racing coilovers
That's odd because there looks like a fair bit of adjustment on the dynamic pro or whatever the street version is called.
This is how my car sits currently and I think I can drop it further

I haven't tried going lower yet. I have to even out my rears a little more but there still looks like a fair bit of travel in them still. I've not played with the preload either, I imagine if you tighten the preload you'll probably alter the height as well.

Yeah I was extremely shocked/disappointed when I set them all the way down and it was almost stock on the rear and fronts were tucking and could still go lower ...
I ended up adjusting the pre-load as you said and got it down another inch and a half

Like absolute crap lol I would of sold them buy now if it was my daily.
Not sure if it's from adjusting the pre-load or not or because there premium comps (other people seem to be fine with them )
Will see how the go on the track soon tho

I'm on the Dynamic prosports. pictures after 1 week below. Measuring 338 HC to G front, and 348 HC to G rear, so both ends have settled about 2mm.

I was advised by mania when I bought mine not to get the premium comps if I drove to the track and back.

Did you end up getting them ?
If you didn't you made the right decision, for street it's pretty unbearable at times especially with the horrible roads in Sydney !

Re: Yellow Speed Racing coilovers
No, I took their advice. I don't drive my car much on the street but enough to justify getting the standard ones.
