I had this floating around my head for quite some time, no idea if it will work well or not but the standard silencer is pretty weak and makes a buzzy sound so I decided to tweak it a little.
Underneath the sink in the laundry I found a bunch of old grimy steel wool scours. I picked a hold in the centre of them and pushed them onto the silencer as best I could. Was a pretty tight fit so I'm hoping this absorbs some more of the sound.
I'm yet to try it on the road but I'm assuming this will quieten the car considerably but I'm on the fence until I hear it in action

Though, I'm wondering if I should poke one more scour into the middle of it too. I don't think these really constrict the flow too much, but should be enough to stop be cracking the sound barrier.
