did you ever try it without the huge tip? Often times thats a lot of the cause.

Head to ebay man! I picked up the Revell kit for $40 shipped from the US and the waaaaay better quality Tamiya one for like $20.

I initially bought the Revell one on impulse not realising there was more than one kit... The fact that it had a b6 and full engine bay sold it for me but it was only after I hit buy that I noticed it was left hand drive!!!!! So off I went to see what other mx5 models were manufactured.

Tamiya one is by FAR the best. It was way better detail and scale. it's a tad smaller (by maybe 1-2mm all around) but not noticable until you try to retro fit a part from one car to the other. Definately worth it though, my only dilema is that I started with crappy paint and a really cheap brush so I have to strip it bare and start again. Though I'm waiting until I can afford an airbrush so I can do it right the first time!!!!!

You should take the plunge! I think the Tamiya one was in Sydney on ebay for about $16 and I paid $4 shipping to get it here pretty much next day.

Plans have changed a little with the car. Basically the same but I need to type it up here so I at least have a reference for myself.

Looks like I'll be going into hibernation mode for a few months on the car front. I'm pretty much flat broke now, but it's a good feeling. It sounds odd saying that but I guess knowing I have a financial monkey off my back helps me sleep at night.
In other words, I've FINALLY paid off ALL of my outgoing expenses for a long time. No more bills creeping up so all the money I make now is profit ^$^.

For the now I'm putting away as much money as I can so I can establish myself again. I've sent away all my nursing papers and all so it's just a matter of time before it's processed and the hunt for a REAL job begins

It's good to know that things are FINALLY on the way up!!!!!!

So car plans have changed apparently. What does that mean? not a whole lot really but enough to involve some explaining.
I've decided to take the car in a new direction. I need to put on my big boy clothes and start maturing the car!
As soon as we're out of winter, I'll be contacting my brother who is a professional painter and having HIM repaint my pillars to colour match the hard top since he painted the roof for me in the first place.
Next I'll be stripping my tyres off the daisies and spraying the entire wheels in satin white and wrapping them up in a set of brand new re001's.
Ride height is something else I'd love to fix up and find a happy medium between performance and aesthetics.
In terms of performance, I'll be selling off the RSR. It's sad but I've made peace with that finally. The plan is to buy a Fujitsubo down the line but that will need more funds so short term I'll be getting a cheap custom made 2.25" axle back sports muffler with stock tip to get me by.
I'm sick of drawing attention to myself.
As for intake, the mania intake will be sold and replaced with a decent pod filter with a heat shield over the extractors.

However my first purchase will be a MX5 Plus bar and a bucket. Bucket seems a little hard parker for the street but in my opinion if you have a roll bar I think they go hand in hand with buckets. In a crash, I personally value my skull not being fractured on a roll bar thanks to a seat that can't stop my head from traveling in it's direction! So that's a must!
I think currently I've gone about as far as I can with the car without investing in an ECU so that's DEFINATELY on the cards.

This is all a bit scattered and rightfully so. I need work out a budget, timeframe and start writing out some financial plans to make sure I can get onto this as quickly and efficiently as possible without putting a dent in my personal life as well LOL.
As far as I can tell, when I get a nursing job, this should start coming together pretty quickly!!!!!!!

My suggestion regarding removing the tip wasnt meant to be a smartass "cut the tip off hurr durr" comment, rather a serious suggestion as it may have been removable. I dont know I dont buy brand name shiny stuff.

Fair enough, I guess I misinterpreted you about the muffler. Funny how you didn't mean to be a smartass yet when you point that out you still make a douche remark at the end.

Are you kidding me? I dont buy it, surely if you looked at my car and said look at danns car, his muffler is ugly and he cut the tip off, that would be an insult right?

The reason I added that was so that you could see that I dont know, about good quality stuff and that I just make do. I was trying to be humble so as not to offend you.

Im going to have to stop trying to help people. My first post was a serious suggestion, trying to help and this post was me trying to tell you that, and showing that I dont know how it is with brand name shiny things, I know with cheap ones you cant remove the tip, but with brand name ones I guessed maybe you could.

Dude lets stop this. Arguing semantics over the internet is retarded because when you put something into text, you can't judge connotations and both parties end up looking stupid.

I appreciate the mature reply. And the above point is 100%. Its just the internet anyways.

I feel stupid when I add emoticons because It feels immature, but Im just going to have to add them at the end of every sentence to make people happy and stop assuming that because I give a 5 word sentance as an answer im angry at them.

Hi Josh,

Great to hear that things are starting to look up for you. I wish you the best in finding a job as well.
As for the car, few points/questions.
-Ride height: You can just raise your coilovers right?
-A pillars makes sense if you are rocking a red hard top, but I did like the black ones...

I know you will do your research, but just be careful in selecting a bucket. Some bucket designs either prevent or make it difficult for the normal seatbelt to function. I dont know which ones, but I have seen some that will allow you to stick the seat belt stalk through a hole in the side of the bucket, this is much better than going over the bolstering.

I am thinking about a roll bar down the track as well...

With a bucket youd be silly not to remove the plastic stalk to allow you to put the buckle through the hole, this is possible in all seats.

Also you obviously should put the belt itself through the right hand hole too (on the case of a drivers side, left hole for passenger).
