Tyres for Enkei's
Apparently Kumho Ecsta tyres are not likely to be in stock till xmas. Option 1 garage are suggesting Federal RSR 15 inch 195/50 or 205/50 for $160 each.
Reviews I have read are mixed on Federals. I am open to suggestions.

Re: Tyres for Enkei's
why not google 195/50R15 and 205/50R15 tyres?
At those prices, I don't see how you can go wrong with the RSR's.

Guys who run these tyres at track days speak very highly of them. The price is right too.

How's the noise / wear Davex3? Are they a true semi or a KU36 semi-like tyre?

Re: Tyres for Enkei's
Are you keeping your old boat anchor 17's? ie. are the Enkeis going to be your all-round use wheels?
If you are just using them on the track, then why not go for gold & get R-specs, eg. Bridgestone RE55S, Dunlop DZ03G, Toyo R888 to name but a few.
They are a lot more expensive, as you probably know, but it seems like a bit of a waste spending the extra $$ for super light wheels and bits , and then skimp on the tyres. You have a goal, so follow it 100% through.

Re: Tyres for Enkei's
Just a quick comment. The RSR have a stiffer side wall and run at lower pressures than the KU36. On the track I run the RSR at 36psi hot and the KU36 at 40psi hot. The RSR have a better turn in than the KU36. Both tyres can take a pounding. For me the final choice was down to which class I wanted to run in.

Re: Tyres for Enkei's
decided on the Michelin pilot 3 tyros. The boat anchors already have semi slicks and can be used for track.
Thanks for the input.

Wait... so the Enkeis were intended for road use?

Re: Tyres for Enkei's
The enkeis where to cut weight, not for track. I spend 99.999 percent of my time on the road and about .00000001 percent on the track.
Despite my boat anchors having semi slicks which don,t get rave reviews I find them quite grippy and long wearing, plus my car has enough power to haul the boat anchors.

I am on 205/45/16 595RS-R, i was within 0.1 of a second of an NA8 on 225/45/15 Nitto NT01 round lakeside.
I'd fit them on my car again in a heartbeat.
Nitto NT01 are on par with the v700 in the States so make of that what you like, and yes RSR are my street tyres.
As soon as CAMS allows Nitto's on the tyre list guess what I'll be running.
