Replacing bushing

Going to upgrade my coilovers soon and the car's done a good 150,000kms so I figured that it might be due for a replacement of all/most/some bushing too.

Is that sensible? or should I just replace them as they wear out (I get a feeling that 150,000kms is already over its lifespan)

FYI: After reading a few threads, it sounds like OEM bushing is the way to go as I want to make the ride more comfortable and it should still sharpen the handling compared to worn out bushing (whereas going to poly ones might make the ride too harsh for a daily?)

If your current OEM bushes are worn then new OEM will be an improvement. Another consideration for some is the regular greasing that the aftermarket poly bushes require.

Ive heard various claims that oem straight from mazda are the best. Im still undecided. I plan to swap them before sep 4th.

Anyone got a price for a complete set of eoms?

Not sure if that's for standard or stiffer rubber as web site lists both, but either way it sounds like they're likely very expensive.

Guys, where can I find a list of the Mazda OEM part numbers of ALL the suspension related bushings that I'll need in a NB8B?

I've dived into our forum with no luck and might even look at miata.net tonight.

I'll also need to know the quantity I'll need for each part as well (I'm assuming that I'll need 2 or 4 of some bushings...)

I have a PDF at home with all the part numbers. I know it has them fir my car (na6) but not sure if it has them for the nb. I will find out and let you know.

Hhmmm I'm also considering this. But the cost of the bushings is only half the story. I'm wondering how much installation is

Zero, if you do it yourself.

It's time consuming, but not particularly difficult. I've helped a mate of mine out replacing all his suspension bushings in an NA6 and the only issue I can remember was getting some of the old ones out.

Dunno the cost of getting them fitted, but it won't be cheap given labour of $75 - $100/hour, however it's a b@stard of a job unless you got all the right equipment.

Changed my na8 bushings to 949 neoprene ones recently, was an 8 hr job at home, as long as you have a means to heat the bushes ($25 bunnings gas torch will do it) and some threaded rods and a variety of large sockets to press them out then it's a straight forward job. Good time to do them when doing coilovers as you will save yourself a few hours.

I did mine at 210 000 km and was surprised at how good condition they were, definitely had some life left in them. Might be worth putying the car on a hoist to get the condition of bushes checked before commiting to new ones The neoprene bushes mean you feel every small bump but everything feels more direct and tight, I use the car for autocross so it suits me.

Hhmm yes.. i am handy but not enough to go about replacing the bushing myself im afraid, and, i dont have a friend who is so inclined either.. alas.

It's up to you, but if you put the word out on the forum you might get some interest or help from Sydney folks. This forum has done plenty of group jobs in the past, and you'll probably learn heaps about your car. Totally your decision though; it's your car and your money.
