185/60R14 choices?

Postby sifoo » Thu Aug 25, 2011 12:52 am

Hi guys

What would you all recommend as a high performance tyre for the street? I've got a budget of around $120 per tyre.
Bridgestone RE002 prove to be pretty popular here but not many stores have them yet especially in this uncommon size.

Kumho KU36 are only in 15" plus.

Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help! :D

Cheers

Just outside your budget but still worth mentioning are Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs in 185/60R14 at $US106 from TireRack plus around $US200 for Fedex 5-7 day delivery to major capitals. So all up about $600 aussie dollars. You'd still need to add $40-60 for fitting, balancing and old tyre disposal fees.

They're easily a class above Adrenalins in performance.

Same price for 195/50R15 as well.

Yeh I've been looking at Star Specs from Tire Rack too. Postage was a bit higher than that. You also have to pay by wire transfer which adds a little more to the cost. In the end it costs around $120 per set extra to buy local in Sydney (less if you buy from Stuckeys in Victoria who have lower prices and give club discounts).

Didn't mention Star Specs before because of OP's price spec. And just to emphasize the point ... I don't think you'll find a better tyre for the price than the RE001s. Star Specs would be the next choice if you're willing to pay more.

Tempe Tyres have Falken RT615 for $105.
Falken makes many sizes other manufacturers don't bother with.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Yes i was thinking of the Star Specs but they are too pricey considering I will have a track dedicated rim/tyre package in the near future. Called up Garry's Motorsport today and he quoted $180 a tyre

I'll prob give the RE001 a shot, it seems I don't have any other choice! haha
