Flyin Miata do a set of coilovers called the V-Maxx or something rather.. they're $600USD. I've heard some good things about them on Miata.net, anybody here had any experience with them?

No experience with the V-Max coilovers but I have had S&H experience from FM with my 2.5" exhaust system - the FM S&H will blow your budget.
The Mania GB is your best option - if you haven't missed the boat.

Re: Cheap coiloverrecomendation
Not sure about that Lokiel.
Shipping shouldn't be more than $250 for shipping and you'll be under the duty bracket as well.
Stu with the white NA6 have a set of those installed recently and I think he's coming to the club run this Sunday

Umm...I don't know if I should laugh or not...
I have checked with FM in the past and yes their shipping can be prohibitively expensive, and / but to answer your question BadBong organized the FM rail and brace group buy...so he's got some experience dealing with FM.

I love my V-Maxx - great street/track coilover provided you aren't looking at heavy track work.
Damping is not adjustable FYI.
DON'T buy Spax - they are garbage according to anyone who knows anything.

Recommendation: Paint your Showas yellow (or whatever colour you prefer) then save up some money for some real suspension.

Re: Cheap coiloverrecomendation
I was looking at spending about the same money, trying to stay under the GST import threshold.
The FM V-Maxx have a longer warranty, and the warranty covers more than the YSR's.
The YSR have damper adjustment.
The FM V-Maxx have been tweaked by FM.
The YSR have been tested (and endorsed) by Mania.
So it pretty much comes down to what you value most. At the end of the day, the kits will end up costing similar after accounting for shipping.
FM's shipping can be rather expensive. Last time I got a quote for V-Maxx they wanted $320USD.

Thank you for your thoughtfully constructed and entirely rational feedback. Enjoy your shitty cheap suspension.

Re: Cheap coiloverrecomendation
I received a quote from FM in mid August. Shipping for the V-Maxxes ranged from $270ish US to just a tad over $300US.
Now with their Stage 2 kit (V-Maxx + FM sway bars) it went up to $370US to $420US.
So it is fairly pricey, but should still come under you budget.

Re: Cheap coiloverrecomendation
any more opinions on the v-maxx versus YSR coilovers?
also I currently have a koni + kings setup, how do the above two fair against my setup.
