I use my 1.6 MX for spirited road work but intend to use it for occasional track work. Similarly for my 1.8 which will soon take over.
What is the best brake pad I can buy for this use (am getting conflicting views online for EBC reds etc).
Standard pads at Wakefield smoked horribly last week.
Anyone tried the ceramic carbon Aisin on ebay?

Hawk HP Plus for $150 a front set at MX-5 Mania. You might be able to get them cheaper from the US, but it'd be line ball once postage & bank fees are added (eg. US$86 a front set from Tire Rack).
Avoid the Bendix Ultimates. I have found they work OK, but tend to crumble and fall to pieces around the edges before they're fully worn out.

Hawk HP+, great price and amazing on the track. A little squealy on the road.
if noise is an issue, i recommend the HAWK Ceramics.
You can get the HP+ from online sites like TRACK DOG for about $180 delivered front and rear last time i ordered.

I have dríven a mates car with the HP's and was not impressed. Seemed too spongy. That said, i do question whether they are the pads due to the good feed back from people.
Look into the QFM HPX and A1RM pads. I have the HPX pads in my old celica and never had any issues under some seriously heavy braking conditions. They're like $80/pair bucks from GSL rally sport. The A1RM's are the next level up and are $120 a pair.

Another vote for the QFM A1RM's
Good bite when cold and work fine on the track.
Quoted operating temp is 0 - 780 deg C

Thanks for the advice fellas - think I will try the Hawk ceramics. Have read a lot on this and other sites...You get a few good comments then out of the blue someone rubbishes what you are leaning towards. Looks like most brands have improvement over standard anyway.
