In answer to what specs I wanted. I wanted a set of Either a-type 14x7 +3 Watanabe's or R-Type 15x8 +0.
And for the record I do not want 'jdm' stuff. I'm sorry but I happen to like a certain style of rims and I'd rather buy the authentic models rather than copies like rota rb's which look nothing like wat's or sportmax 513 which again, do not look anything like what I'm after.
Sure I could get Konig Rewinds but sadly they don't offer their 15x7 +0 size in 4x100pcd so it's just not possible.
And I'm pretty sure I said BBS somewhere, that's not even Japanese LOL. So don't put me into some 'jdm purest' group.
But I can understand now why the wait can be so long. It makes sense that if they're all custom order and made on demand it wouldn't be cost effective doing one set at a time. But from a business point of view, no wonder all the big name rim companies are suffering. They're killing themselves rather than the knock offs destroying sales. Time is a huge factor in 'emotional purchases' and I'm sure long waits will deter a LOT of potential buyers, same with holding off production until a quota of orders is met.
Though I do agree that buying brand new does give you a huge advantage with the ability to custom order to a persons own specifications. Plus the the companies that don't offer this service have a large crossection of sizes that will almost always cater to your needs. Take say, Axis for example. A cast wheel company that prides themselves on cheap imitations of big names. Well when you look at the sizing there is only usually one or two different offset options which generally will require guard mods or not fill out the arches enough.
This all comes down to wants and needs and I'm not going to open the can of words about fake vs real because that's done to death.
So I'd rather that dead horse not be flogged again in this thread.
Thanks for the responses guys! You've been really helpful. Especially noting that if there is something you really want, no amount of waiting or cost should be a deterrent.
Cheers
