MX5s are slow .. unless you give it your not gonna DIE and spin out. You gotta be plan stupid to. Its hard to lose control unless your going 100ks in a corner.. anything under 60 is very easy to keep.

100ks in an mx5 is exactly the same as 100ks in an f1. I don't see how low power is relevant when you're planning to drift in the wet at relatively low speeds.

A 60kph slide is easy to keep, until that car you didn't see around the bend comes up and you end up in a ball of crumpled metal, or you hit a spot of oil and the back end whips out and plants you into a tree.

I don't care if you drift in an empty carpark or on a skid pan, but don't expect much respect if you're going to do it on roads. I am completely lost as to how you can not see how incredibly stupid and dangerous it is.

All the add campaigns this country has and the people here who think a sentence on a message board will discourage the way he drives.

Im sure he thinks something similar to the following.

'I will go for a wet lap around a deserted carpark or industrial estate every couple weeks'

He will also feel that this only puts himself in danger. Obviously if hes decided thats ok then you all arent going to be able to convince him otherwise.

So answer regarding 3 piece vs 2 piece, and what widths and offsets are possible and leave it at that, seriously...

Drifting like all motorsport needs to be done in a safe environment, crappy tyres can make up for a lack of horsepower but keep your bald/crap tyres for the track.

It's very easy to have an "i'll drift in an empty car park i'm only putting myself at risk" attitude, but should things turn pear shaped it will be your family that will have to spoon feed you every day, change your nappy etc.

Motorsport is expensive but it's because there's a level of safety built in.

If you drive to and from the track of bald/crap tyres you put others lives at risk, if your selfish enough not to consider the lives of others perhaps consider if you'd be able to handle a few years in prison.

The MX-5 is know for its great handling, your only going to embarrass yourself when your car doesn't handle as well as a stock MX-5 because of the pose factor or budget tyres. Might as well buy for capri.

My solution would be some great wheels/tyres for the street and keep your stock rims/crap tyres for dori dori on the track.

basically if someone asks a question theres only answers not 50 ppl pulling comments out of their ass.

Everyone has parents, wives or .. similar (except those unfortunate few that dont..) let them do the convincing you guys should just give up. Most of you guys goto the track this that, im planning to give it a hit when its pissing rain and boring.

My opinion the mx5 is good for 2 reasons. 1 CONVERTIBLE, 2 RWD. In conclusion the car is fun both in dry and wet situations.

If i wana realy DRIFT AND GO HARD OUT killing myself i will buy a manual commodore and go hard out for half the price of an NB i just plan to give it a hit once n a while I HAVE SEEN HALF OF YOU DO THIS already just for some reason scared to admit it ..

a. Am a P plater
b. Drive a modified car

How about you pull your head out of your ass and take some peoples advice. Have you ever been in a decent car accident? I have, and I had to deal with all the sh*t associated with it for months after the accident. People are trying to help you by letting you know how much of a farking tool you sound like. But hey, if you want to be a big macho shithead then go right ahead.

Dann doesn't care about you. If someone asks a question, he'll give his answer, and ignore everything around the sides. As a result of this, every piece of advice he gives is in some way useful to the person who asks. I'm sure if you whacked a curb and broke your entire suspension system, he'd say you had it coming.

I think it's really sad that we've completely lost the ability to talk logic reason into you. I've been involved in a car crash, and broke my knee cap in half. I still feel the effects of it almost four years later. I hit this guys driver's door, so my first thought when I saw his car was that I had killed him. I'll never forget the terrible sinking feeling in my entire body when I saw his car. The knowledge that someone's life had been ended in my hands would have been unbearable. Fortunately, I hit his car in such a way that most of the impact was taken by the car I was driving, so I got most of the force of the crash. No one died in that incident, but just a couple of millimetres here or there, or a couple of kph faster, would have resulted in a much more dramatic scene.

You may be able to drive like Ken Block, and you may have millimetre precision with every corner you take, but you cannot possibly factor in the behaviour of others on the road, or variations in environment. If someone comes tearing up to the corner you're planning on drifting around, there's going to be a big crash. If there's a patch of wet leaves in the middle of the road, that could be enough to upset your rhythm and throw you into a curb.

You haven't been involved in a serious crash, have you?

Your best to get wider wheels with a higher offset, your car will perform better but as a consequence your ability to loose traction will suffer. When its wet any car can wheel spin, my work truck is like a hockey puck in the rain.

I MUST SAY some of us forum readers have lost friends and family in serious motor accidents, in mx5s and other cars, remember on the road you owe every person driver or pedestrian a duty of care.

So if you want to be reckless, do it on a quiet road please.

P.s the way you drove the karts the other night had me second guessing your driving skills, I urge you to prove me wrong ;)
