Yeah.. Plenty of choices. I'll probably just get the most value for money option. I just wished Australia had more options. and1, what are you running now?

When I got the megans I couldn't understand why anyone else didn't have them! Where are you located?

zephyrus17 wrote:How about the FM V-Maxx? It's $695 for the NB conversion, and including shipping it'll be around $900 (haven't asked), which isn't too bad
From the sounds of things, they're fairly well made and well valved.
They're firmer than the Illumina's, but how much so is not totally clear.
NB conversion is $695, shipping is ~$330 @ 1.06AUD; so just north of $1000 landed.
There are some downsides to this set-up though.
No adjustable lower mount, so you lose travel by lowering (albeit not much).
No damper adjustment (putting a lot of faith in default damping).
Running similar spring rates to the BC BR. V-maxx (390lb/260lb or 7kg/5kg).
No pillow balls mounts included.
No local parts, spares, kits, replacement units, or warranty service.
Worth mentioning, the BC BR only come with pillowballs on the front. You can opt for pillowballs on the rear, or camber plates if so inclined.
Otherwise, as standard, the BR kits come with a rubber mount for the rear coilovers.

On miata.net, people report about the Megan's having trouble with rear travel, amongst other problems.

Re: ['90 NA] Proposed suspension setup
@Wivvix, I get what you're saying. It's probably better to pay a bit more for the local BC BR due to the after sales support and the coil is 'better' itself.
@Orange, thanks for the offer! I'll surely look you up when I'm ready to make a decision. There's just the issue of saving enough cash (need new exhaust too), so it won't be too soon. But one can never research too much...

Re: ['90 NA] Proposed suspension setup
i second dann's comments.
Speak to justjap in sydney about the bc's. Pretty damn sure they have pillowball top mounts at both ends of the car. http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=19208&cat=&page=1
Other aus coilover options include yellowspeed racing from mx5 mania and HSD HR's from otomoto. You can cheaply get bilsteins from the states too, amongst many other options.
Note: none of the above coilovers are made in aus, just stocked by local distributors.

Re: ['90 NA] Proposed suspension setup
I'd get the FM kits in a heartbeat if not for the bloody shipping costs/import tax. That just makes the decision so much harder, because either way, it's still a large hunk of change.

You tell me I've seen a few mx5s with various set-ups and camber plates on the front. Go figure.
BC Racing do make several different sub-models of the BR series. RA, RS, are the most common.

Also worth noting those BC BR are 8/6, not 7/6. You can however order whatever spring rate you want (takes 2 weeks).

Re: ['90 NA] Proposed suspension setup
I've also been made aware of the HSD HR Coilovers, they're very popular with the drift scene and designed for the track, but not much in terms of the MX-5. Does anyone have any personal experiences? And being a 9/6, would they be too hard for the road?
