Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
haha yeah monarco performance!
mods,
yeah I'll post here all good mate!
power/engine wise:
Mania Intake + pod filter
NB pipe (AFM to TB)
4-2-1 extractors
high flow cat
2.5' cat back and muffler
I think the timing has been bumped up but not 100% sure
new timing belt
42mm radiator
brakes:
RDA slotted rotors
QFM A1rm Pads
braided lines
AFAIK its still standard clutch...until the 21st then an exeedyheavy duty goes in
suspension:
TEIN Flex coilovers
whiteline bushes here and there
front whiteline sway bar (nothing rear)
other?
6 point CAMS cage
sparco seat + harness
ishift shift light
thats it from what I can remember!
edit - wheels! need wheels and tyres to drive a car too LOL
china spec 15' wheels with r888's
mods,

Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
oh, back in 2009 I killed cylinder 4, got it fixed, I dont think they did any headwork at the time which sucks now as would be good!
but made 75rwkw at Unigroup Engineering. My old car made 255rwkw (R33) on that Dyno

Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
so to recap today....just an FYI this was my 1st attempt at doing a clutch!!!
I just remembered how much I hate driving the MX5 for long periods of time!
Gosford to Newcastle...sure it took under an hour but my god my back was killing me! maybe Im getting old....
when I saw the freeway exit sign I was happy!
so first thing was removed the brace and driveshaft
so, after undoing everything with the GB, we tried to remove it however turns out my extractors are quite large and the GB couldnt get passed, so hoist done, header bolts undone, extractors off, gearbox ready to move.
so ready to ubolt stuff
so we went to a place to get my fly wheel machined, and some will ask why didnt I go a lightened flywheel?
well, couldnt afford it to put it simply.
went to shop to get it machined, old mate comes back out and says "machine is broken done, can do it monday"
ah...no.
the manager there then says leave it with me, i'll leave now and head to our other shop, meet me there in 30mins
so...forgot to mention had a leaking rear main seal.
went to another shop, got the seal, then went to the other shop and BAM was very impressed with the maching.
the old vs new clutch

Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
so bolting back everything
lol pink bits!!
and done...yes it has the standard wheels on, didnt want to drive with the semis on the F3.
Thats one of Geoffs 15+ cars, a mint 300ZX next to mine.
so big thanks to my mate Ryan and of course Geoff at Monaco Performance @ Kotara.
Even though Ryan did a fair bit more work than me today, im still happy that I could do what I can and not get drunk (had to drive home!)
Unfortunately we ran out of time to check the alignment for suspension, so I'll just race as is.
if I can beat a 1.13.6 I'll be a happy man

Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
car just clicked over 150k today!
however, for those technically minded...
I have a rattle/knock 1st and 2nd under hard acceleration however nothing 3rd 4th or 5th.
doiesnt do it when I take off normally.
fkn weird.
thoughts?
p.s. it has made this noise before clutch change but seems to be worse now.

Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
Torque is higher in those gears so you'll canter the engine more which means the whole motor/gearbox/exhaust/intake etc will all move a further distance. It may not do it at idle as without the load from dríven the wheels you won't have as much movement. Usually the it's just the exhaust so give that a good shake by hand, else get a big lever and push the engine over. If the mounts are in good nick you shouldn't be able to move it so far to hit anything. That'd be my first check depending on the type of knock/rattle. E.g is it a high frequency osciallating light piece of metal sound, heavy thunk from impacting a hard solid mounted object, is it the front or rear of the car?

Re: Weevils 94 MX5 Clubman track hack
hey mark,
thanks for the reply!
yeah looks like the extractors are hitting the the fire wall during 1st gear.
have undone 3 bolts on the brace which bolt to the rear of gear box, as soon as I cracked those 3 nuts I saw the engine/gb move back a few mm
seems to be all good!
bring on MRA.....and hope this rain stays the ƒü¢k away!!!
