Same here, as does ABS, parking sensors, auto-park assist, automatic transmissions, power-steering and the rest of that junk.

Out of all of those things, cruise control is the only thing thats purely a luxury, and also makes it easier to zone out when driving.

Gotta disagree about the cruise. I do a lot of miles in my job and find the cruise less tiring.
With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

Cruise control has a wonderful feature whereby you can switch it on and off. So those people that want to use it can, and those that don't, can leave it switched off...

You obviously are missing the point. Would you install a tv and microwave into the car? No? Too distracting? But she has the choice to turn it off..

Cruise control makes focusing on the road and traffic conditions during long drives easier not harder.

Almost as good as getting the passenger to steer as well so all you have to do is open your eyes when you hear screeching, to brake?

That doesn't ring true for me, as having cruise on means you're not focusing on your speed, which is essentially the most important part of driving.

I'd say that road hazards and not having a crash are the most important parts of driving on public roads. imho, eyes on the road looking for hazards are better than eyes on a speedo worried about tickets. Each to their own I guess!
