I've given in to the temptation. Entered for the Club day :D but not SuperSprint. :(

Time to bed in the tyres won at NatMeet and try out the new Deckspeed tune and AEM CAI from Deanb90.

I didn't realise how long it's been since I'd had a run in a Club day (besides NatMeet on street tyres) at Wakefield. October last year

I know seat time is the best way to drop and keep your times down, so hopefully it won't take too long to put in some consistent laps and close in on the Silent Assassin 4.1

Apparently we have 79 entrants for Sunday (7 groups) so that's pretty much a full house. Then there are 68 for Monday (6 groups) which is a great showing for a weekday. Possibly a few spots available for any late starters.

This will be my second visit and I'm pumped (Monday). Sitting comfortably slowest in my group :)

Yeah the rain is a worry, but the forecast looks a bit sporadic; doesn't look like constant rain all day. So after a shower, I'd imagine the 'racing' line should dry out pretty quick? I hope... (assuming you're not the one that has to dry it out! )

Lol, no "racing line" ever dries out at Wakefield. Sort of turns into a swamp, not to mention the rivers you get during heavy rain.

And how.
Stayed dry, learned a bunch, dropped the PB and only mildly broke the car. I'd call that a successful day if ever I saw one.

Sidenote: Mildly broken car means I ran out of front pads.

Had an absolute ball!

I need to express my most sincere gratitude to Ralph (the silent assassin) for unselfishly loaning me his spare near new set of Kumho R specs.
I (and a couple of others) were caught out believing the weather bureau and its forecast of torrential rain on the day.
Did a couple of runs on the street tyres and was having fun but....
Ralph just pointed to the spare set and quietly (is he ever anything else?) told me to take them.

This is the spirit that makes the MX5 club what it is....thanks again Ralph!!
You won't be buying beers when I'm around for quite a while.

Plenty of PBs today, Ralph set a new class record on the last run for road registered NCs, 0.01 under Chris Gough's old one. A fantastic effort.

I had a mixed day. A new PB of 1:10.33 :D but many laps with No. 4 cylinder suffering a miss due to a broken COPS lead.

A great day was had by all. Well done to the officials.

I'll fix the lap record sheet when the full results are posted.

Ran only the first run (not a good one as I caught traffic and then dropped back to get a clean lap, but missed a gear out of the fishhook messing up this run) when I got a message my wife had taken ill, which resulted in a quick dash back to Canberra. After a day in casualty and a variety of tests all is now well.

Luckily I had a run on Sunday in the state round, ending up with a 1.15.1 on a less than perfect track and 2nd in Type 3A. My very last lap was my quickest, which just put me ahead of a VN V6 commodore - I had great fun chasing him all day.

Thanks to Mike and all the other officials for two big days.
