Winton 300 / MX5 challenge

Postby neilh » Mon Aug 20, 2012 2:05 pm

Hi Guys,

As i am sure we all know, the Winton 300 is being held on the 10/11 November. During this weekend the MX5 challenge is also listed as a support category. Anyone thinking of going down and doing the MX5 challenge races???? Might be fun to go and play on another track :D

I'm not racing but have a friend racing but in another category, so will be making the trip. Would be good to catch up with any forum members visiting or racing on the day.

The $800 fee is to enter the Winton 300 event. the entry fee for the MX5 support races is $260.

event page is here: http://www.wintonraceway.com.au/events/winton-300
entry form is here: http://www.wintonraceway.com.au/wp-cont ... ound-3.pdf

If a few other cars enter i may be keen to make the trip down. But it is a long way to go if only 1 or 2 other cars are going to show up!!!!

@ $260 i am in again... Will have to sort out what i need to do to be able to enter. Car has to be log booked i presume, and i will need to get a license from aasa. The boaks would be in. Fitzy too? I don't expect to win, as i only have a stock motor and have to compete against turbo cars, and worked na cars. But it would be a good experience. Next weekend will be my first go at winton long in this car, so will have a time to compare to other guys.. Expecting about a 1:40.

Hi guys!!

The weekend will have both the MX5 Challenge and Winton 300 events so there will be plenty of track time. Usually if you enter for the 300 Adam Ronke will let you run in the MX5 Challenge races at no cost 8) .

There is quite a few MX5's doing the 300 and many will back up for the Challenge races too.

This is the latest entry of MX5's for the 300 -

3 Tampered Motorsport Adam Ronke Warren Sheehan Mazda MX5
55 MX5 Mania David Raddatz Shane Otten Mazda MX5
6 MX5 Mania Nick Cancian Rob Hay Mazda MX5
43 MX5 Mania Hayley Swanson Sarah Collins Mazda MX5
111 Targa Racing/Performance Chip Tuning TBA TBA Mazda MX5
11 Targa Racing/Performance Chip Tuning TBA TBA Mazda MX5
17 Targa Racing/Performance Chip Tuning TBA TBA Mazda MX5
75 Hydrawash Michael Hall Steve Head Mazda MX5
57 Deckspeed Racing Daniel Deckers TBA Mazda MX5

No doubt there will be other people from NSW coming to do the Challenge events too. I think boyracer is pretty keen but he will only have just got back from the USA.

As for licences, yes an AASA will be needed and also a logbook. If you have a CAMS race licence and log book you can use them. If you are not sure contact Adam Ronke at Winton Raceway and he can advise you.

Will be a great weekend and hopefully the weather is dryer than at the Wakefield 300!!

Hi Quickie,
Still looking at it, my gearbox has been crunching in 3rd and now 4th for a few meetings so I have pulled it out and it is being repaired as we speak. Hopefully I'll get it the weekend before!

Must let Charles know that I intend coming!!

Hi Col,

Finally got around to sending my entry away for this event. Are you going to do the supper TT as well as the challenge races? I figure if i am going to drive all the way to VIC, i might as well get a heap of track time!!
