Re: FoSC - Saturday 29th - SMP South
editing vid now!
although Ive had a few beers and bourbons so might pass out as epic tired and sunburnt!
there are surprisingly quite a few spots to overtake while other areas you think you may pass but they shut the gate.
unfortunately my vid is me running my own race. so no real door to door although I did have cars behind me I started pulling away from but couldnt catch the faster guys.

Re: FoSC - Saturday 29th - SMP South
Great fun day
. Fantastic old cars running in various categories. Photos to come.
I've Never had so many cars trying to take me out.
Seems like most FoSC competitors don't know what those little shiny mirrors are for.
I have some footage that I'll load up in a few days to show what I mean.
I was running in Regularity, where there were 28 cars on the tight track at one time, makes for very interesting overtaking and out braking maneuvers for MX5s and times that are all over the shop if you run up front and catch the back markers. I gave up trying to average good times and just had fun.
I managed a time of 1:05.04, which considering the traffic, I was pretty happy with.

Fabulous result in Regularity A for Stewart Temesvary with a 1st and 2nd place, plus a 1st for Kevin Addison.

next time!
oh,
here is my vid of race 2.
not quite as exciting as I hoped. The faster guys had their own battle and then it was me and I had a turbo starlet, a civic, V8 triumph and a fair few behind me so while I had no one in front I had a lot of pressure from the guys behind!

Re: FoSC - Saturday 29th - SMP South
Awesome day yesterday!!
What a fantastic and challenging little circuit SMP Sth is. You'd be hard pressed to find a track that better suited any MX5. Great racing and fun times with plenty of people calling in to say hello. Good to catch up with many of the MX5 Club members.
Overall the day was run very well. We got a decent number of laps and on track incidents were to a minimum. It was great to see the MX5's dominating our race and I had a fantastic dice with Brian Anderson in my BMW 130. We'd only just finished building this car and this was it's racing debut. I was damned if I could pass him in my NC - but I did try!!! The last race was a beauty with MX5's crossing the line in the top 3 spots.
The regularity guys also had a great time working through the traffic although some of the other cars seemed to making things a little difficult at times
I was using the Yellowspeed competition shocks from MX5 Mania for the 1st time. David has done a spot on job tuning them for the circuit and they are great value for money.
It will be interesting to see what everyone thinks of the track at the next MX5 Club Day. As Phil has mentioned, get used to using those shiny things - you will need to!!
See you at the club day
