blargh. Tried to sign up but it doesn't like my member details for the online form. Maybe because I only signed up recently it's not been all entered into the system yet...?

Sent Keith an email as per the page... hope this doesn't shut me out of the event

You could just post or fax the paper form to Zan. When you're at the entry page for the online form there's a link there to the PDF for the paper version. Then you can just write your member number on that.

...

The tape is supplied at the track by the Club. Best to tape the leading edge because if the numbers blow off you'll be walking out to get them and other drivers don't like to loose track time.

Polish your doors before you come to the track, this will put a thin layer of wax between the paint and the tape so you won't suffer any paint damage, unless you've a dodgy paint job to start with.

Also pump your road tyres up to 37psi before coming to the track. There's no air pump on the South Circuit.
Make sure you have fresh brake fluid, top up your oil to the full mark and check the coolant level is correct.

Great tips. If anyone is stuffed on the day regarding tyre pressures I have a portable compressor that hooks up to the battery. Look for the silver Nb with the light blue rollbar.

Had another question about clothing.. Is jeans and a long sleeve shirt alright? only long sleeve shirt I have doesn't cover my neck though... Or do I need a proper flame retardant suit?

It's all there in section 13 of the supp regs: "Non-flammable clothing must be worn that extends from ankles to neck to wrist". Cotton jeans and cotton long-sleeve shirt are acceptable. The shirt doesn't have to cover your neck like a turtle-neck top; a crew-neck or polo-neck shirt are acceptable. :)

Mike Hicks from the MX5 Club has sent out the following email -

Saturday the 27th October is our first club track day on the South Circuit at Sydney Motorsport Park formerly Eastern Creek. If it is a successful day it won't be the last. However to conduct events on the South circuit we need to man a minimum of 5 flag points to ensure safety for the entrants.

Could any members who would be prepared to man a flag point for the day or alternately the morning or afternoon could you please contact Mike Hicks on 9894 9167 or 0419 201 588 or by email at cob_mik@bigpond.net.au You will be suitably briefed prior to being posted and will be provided with lunch and drinks. All the flag points have adequate sun protection. By Assisting on the day you can become a General CAMS Official. If you wish to see the track action close up there is no better place than on a flag point.

Being our first Track Day in Sydney I would hope that this event will attract good support from the members either as officials or spectators.

Could be worth a go for anyone keen. You will be right up close to the action and get some experience too 8). Flagging days are a bit of fun and it is all pretty relaxed so a good way to get started if you have no experience. Everyone is very friendly and will be glad to see you getting involved - and you get a free lunch and drinks!!

Any questions give Mike a call on 9894 9167 or 0419 201 588 or by email at cob_mik@bigpond.net.au

I won't be driving that day, so put up my hand to help. Anyone who is a track day regular should forgo driving at least one track day every 2 years, and volunteer to help, I reckon.

Wouldn't it be neat if I get a whole bunch of flags to wave at drivers as they go past, ... especially the black one!

One for me!
Mine came off last week when the car went in for its repair and paint detail.
I was off to Crockers in Miranda next weekend to buy part of the roll they've put aside for me.

My dad is going to be a flagger :) Him and I are coming in our Mx5s. It's going to be a great day.. I know I got approved for being number 16.. I already got magnets myself.. Do I have to use theirs or can I use my own? Also.. I know it's a smart idea to use tape on the magnets so they don't fall off.. Is there tape at the track or should track down my own?
