Group buy for that bonnet with just the single vent up front? I know of at least 3 people who would be keen.

Look how twisted the NB8B was. The chassis was well beyond repair. When i put it on axle stands, i had to lift the left rear one 3 clicks higher than the others.

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
Went to p.i to test the fastback and aero bits. I had too much traffic, and then there was a strong headwind. So probably dould have done better than the 1:54.9 i got. Race chrono has a best of low 1:54's as the optimum time. Damn traffic... But it was fun dicing with the fast cars.
Here is a pic showing how close it is to the ground. I had to trim the skirts in the morning.

Strong winds would have been a good test of the aero and how well the windows seal.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
The strong wind was only half the problem. The wing slides back and forward in an arc on the stands. So i put it all the way back. But it ends up with a lot more angle. And the back adjusters bottom out before i could get the angle back down to what i wanted. So the last 2 sessions had way too much angle on the wing. Last session was a drive thru the pits and back onto the track, no time to adjust the wing.

You need to create an in-cabin adjustable rear wing. I wonder why someone hasn't done this before?

They have, in the form of the DRS in F1!

Silly old me. I was going to question if F1 had done it!
You could do it with little electric motors, or just a bunch of cables and an adjuster (both a lot of work).

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
I have thought about using boot or door solenoids. Or even the headlight motors. It can be done, but requires some time to make it all work. And i like doing things that dont take too much time for this car.

Re: The carbon fibre time attack/superlap MX5 NB twins blog
Would there really be that much benefit to active aero on the car?
I'm just thinking that most sedan based racecars don't have active aero, it's only really F1 and maybe a few others, and they're developed to the point where they can afford to invest that amount of money into dropping 0.01secs off laptimes.

Time Attack/Superlap cars run adjustable aero.
Im pretty sure they are linked to a G meter to adjust between cornering/straights.
