Mine's in a similar state, is it a loud click from the actuator or soft click?
You should be able to hear the difference, if it's loud it'll sound like it actually unlocks, but the boot doesn't actually open, pull the trim out and check the actuator pin is correctly connected to the lock, so that it opens. In mine, the actuator's screw that holds it to the lock rattled loose, i ziptied that baby in, 5 mins later, found the screw at the bottom of my boot. It seems to work but now every now and then it makes the small click and won't open.
If it's a small click, then I'm not sure, as mine is doing that atm, it works sometimes, and doesn't work others.
