Thanks Magpie, will discuss your setup on the day. Went for a recce run and the route is all set. Should be a good run. If all goes well, the next run will be through Mt Tamborine

...I'm monitoring this current weather event on Weatherzone and came across this image which I thought might be of interest. I'm sure the waters will have retreated before 03-FEB, but I thought it coincidental that it is near Fernvale (Savages Crossing):

Kev, in MX5's or a Quintrex with 50hp Evinrude?

Guess it depends on how long SEQ Water does releases from Wivenhoe Dam

If people care to cast their minds back:

January long weekend 2011 - recovering from severe floods
January long weekend 2012 - over 500mm recorded at my home in 5 days, month total was just under 700mm [28 inches]

Thanks for the picture Andrew, thankfully that is not the road we would be travelling on. That crossing is on Banks Creek Road leading to a camping reserve along the Brisbane river. It is quite a distance from Fernvale town precinct. Discussion from weather zone indicated that the rising creek was caused by the water releases from the dam rather than the rainfall. The photo was supplied by River 94.9.

Nevertheless we will have to heed the warning of potential flooding in the surrounding areas. From memory, Fernvale was one of the towns cut off during the January 2011 floods. I'll continue to monitor the weather condition and any potential road damage. If this rain continue at the same intensity throughout next Wednesday then it is highly likely I will have to postpone it for safety reasons.

Or Kev05 you can plan an alternate place instead of Fernvale for the morning tea. You could head to Peak Crossing or Harrisville from the meeting point.
