Re: Uncle Arthur has passed away :(
I was very sad to hear that Uncle Arthur is no longer with us.
He was a long time contributor when I first became a member and although I never met him in person, you gain a certain sense of the personality from a large number of posts. He was one of those people whose contribution was always enjoyed and who was an integral part of the composite that is the MX5 Forum.
Has anyone ever thought of creating a "Roll of Honour' sticky where we could have a thread with some photos to honour each long time contributor who had passed on.

These are from the last dodgy day at Jules' place, too long ago...

WOW, just WOW......Cant believe it. My 1st dodgy day, was at UAs a few years ago. SO much fun, so many great memories! I guess the big guy upstairs needs his MX-5 to just that little bit faster, and needs the best help he can get!
My thoughts are with his family.

I only met him a few times including a dodgy day a few years ago and was a genuine nice guy.

Re: Uncle Arthur has passed away :(

Danny from Automotive plus was kind enough to call me last week and tell me about the sad passing of Uncle Arthur.
I was hoping Jules as a close mate of UA could write up a tribute and inform other members but understandably he's been too grief stricken to be able to post.
How do you sum up a persons life, their personality, their spirit within a forum post.
Living on the wrong side of Australia I never had the opportunity to meet UA but in the many years i've been involved in this forum i've always appreciated his light hearted approach and his enthusiasm to welcome new members and organise dodgy days.
UA was founder of the QLD Chapter of the Honourable Brothers of Dodgy and benefactor of the Perpetual Dodgy award - Inaugural year 2007.
My heart goes out to his wife, family and friends.
I'm sure forum members would happily send a few dollars to buy some flowers for the funeral or get his wife something nice. If one of his mates can supply bank details and select an appropriate item to buy?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Jules and I are going to the service tomorrow.
Jules has been on holidays and got back to the chaos of weather on the coast and no power and intermittent Net.
Dave, I will talk to the other guys who go along about what we can do for Jen.

And this was the only time I met UA, was doing an engine swap for TheMissus with ASE05. He was the most welcoming person, made quite the impression on me as I'd turned up in an Astra and was still learning about MX5s at the time, before finally buying one 2 years later.
RIP UA, you'll be sorely missed and we all owe it to you to carry the torch of welcoming and friendliness.

At a dodgy day in November 2006. Doing one of the things he loved to do.

I never had the chance to meet UA, but I got to know him through the forum. A sad day for the mx5 community. He will be sadly missed by many.
RIP.
