Re: MX-5 Club Track Day - Wakefield Park - 20th January 2012
Following up on the photos, apart from Tiit's excellent set of 47 from Sun 20th do we have any others? I saw quite a few cameras being pointed by various photographers who looked pretty serious and was just wondering where we can see them? Anyone with inside info?

Josh's mate has posted heaps of photos on his website. All can be previewed and downloaded for free as 866x577 resolution images. If you want higher res, you have to pay. Peter you will want to have a look at photos 250-254 starting on page 4.

I used to have some fun at night with my hawk Blues. When bedding them in, it was like having flares inside your wheels. You would have a fire trail behind ya.
Cool. I didn't know that.

Now tell me, Bryan, would I be correct in assuming you were Tiit's instructor for the day?

I've got over 1400 photos, but I didn't have time to sort them by car number as I did last time. The album starts from the last pic of the day, in a backwards sequence to when each group went out to the track, so it should be easy for you to find your own groups/cars:

Re: MX-5 Club Track Day - Wakefield Park - 20th January 2012
Thanks for the photo evidence !!!
How embarressment - clearly a big overcorrect, then not enough lock (talent) left to bring it back into line, so self preservation instincts obviously took over with a jump on the stop pedal to minimise the pain.
I usually advise newbies to try to get the steering lock off and then lock it up to try and pivot on the black bits. I also advise them not to launch into corners with clearly excessive speed, so I should listen to myself more often.
An earlier photo would have been good to see where I launched off the outside ripple strips on entry, as I tried a very wide and fast entry, and where it actually swapped ends, as it all seems to have come to grief very early in the corner and the end result was inevitable by the first photo.
But the bottom line is "you reap what you sow".
Thanks again to my Sparco seat, as although I felt good on the day, the bruises and aches came on several days later and clearly the race seat minimised the problems.
I don't think I will be back from a trip to NZ in time for the Marulan track day, so it looks like I get to try it all again at the state supersprint on 24 March.

Jake
Hi, nice to meet you, even if briefly, and glad you were safe behind the tyre wall.
Years ago I was spectating at Calder when a photographer walked into the grass infield. A Ralt race car had an off and collected him. Threw him well into the air and resulted in two broken legs, a pretty scary thing to see.
