Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
I received the ARDC paperwork for round 2 today. By my count, there are 111 entries and 17 are representing the MX-5 Club of NSW
. There are 27 non-championship entrants on the list - proof that those registered for the championship need to get their entries in before the priority cutoff, or risk missing out. Looks like we'll be set up in garages 48-50 - drop by and say hello if you're in the area.

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
ARDC lifted the number of cars from 110 to 120 for the event.
I'm #2 reserve.
If I don't get a run it doesn't matter as I really need to fit a set of tyres before the event as the current ones were pretty skatey at the last meet.

I am sitting this one out - was undecided about running the GP circuit that weekend, so missed the cut. Looking forward to my first run on the South circuit in May at the MX5 day.

Ed, you're on the confirmed entry list. You should receive some paperwork in the snail mail, including a sticker for your windscreen. Give ARDC a call if it hasn't arrived yet.

Thanks Guran. I got an email reply saying same thing, I may have offended the postman ...

Got it

Has anyone seen an up-to-date list of series registrants? There are nine 3B cars, and I am curious of all are registered. No racecar so I will be running the GM, looks like a certain 9th place points finish! ... unless some withdraw, and others are not registered - I can live in hope can't I!?

That's good to hear. Cars numbered in 900s are non-championship drivers. You've got four other class 3B competitors. I haven't seen a full list of all championship entrants. Maybe if we ask Bob nicely?

Excellent!

Now, is it too much to ask that one or two of them withdraw, and are replaced by non-registrants, or registrants in another class ...

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
After checking the final results for the first round, I realized that the same lap time that placed me in 5th in 2B, would have scored 4th place in 3B. Are we allowed to move classes just before the race, once we have access to a complete list of all registrants? Just thinking of a way to maximize club points...

Gus,
From the Supersprint regs.
8 (d)
Registrants will receive points for the class for which they have registered, or have been assigned by the Championship Eligibility Officer, irrespective of the class to which they are assigned by the Organising Club of each Round.
So, sounds like a no to your question.
I wouldn't expect such changes would be allowed anyway, as they would be too disruptive to organisers and competitors.

You would need to consider whether you are displacing other members of the club. Taking the first round as an example, the club would lose three points from 2B, and gain 6 points in 3B (your 7 less 1 as a result of me dropping one place), a net gain of 3 points.
To make this happen, you would have to notify the administrator of the series (not the club running the round) that you wanted to move classes, you would need to do this before the event and (if accepted by the administrator) you would then need to change your entry for the particular round. I might be wrong, but I don't think you would be able to change your entry after you have been scrutineered. You would then enter subsequent rounds in your new class.
One thing to bear in mind is that this might backfire when/if some of the class "big guns" turn up, and potentially push you down the order in your new class. Not saying that this will necessarily happen, just pointing out that there are uncertainties about the pecking order, particularly this early in the season, when trying to "game" the point score.
The other consideration is that changes of this nature involve an amount of work by a number of people involved in administering the series and running the round for which you have entered. For this reason alone, I would be cautious about chopping and changing the classes in which I ran, but YMMV.

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
It's not about the points, it's about you competing against similar cars in the same class and the smile on your face.
To move classes just to gain points, for yourself or whatever club imho is cynical.
By the looks of things if one were in SV class, ( and not REALLY having a vehicle for that class) points are guaranteed. Because of limited number of entrants.
But is that what is wanted? I would prefer to measure myself against similar cars and drivers, even if it means minumum points and coming last.

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
That's alright, guys, I wasn't really thinking of moving classes every race, it was just food for thought. I can imagine the administrative nightmare it would cause in case everyone started doing last minute changes to their registrations in order to gain a few extra club points. Besides, this would also mean kissing good bye to the drivers championship, as your points would be scattered all across the different classes you raced in.
Sorry, let's go back to the subject.
So... how do we kick that Lotus out of 2B?!

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
Bob has emailed a list of registered championship entrants. There are 169 drivers in total. The breakdown by club is as follows:
ARDC - 40
MX5 - 34 (this is a new record for our club)
NSWRRC - 20
MWSCC - 15
HSV - 15
21 other clubs make up the remaining 45 entrants
Looks like it'll be a very tough battle with ARDC for the club championship, especially with all but two rounds being held at SMP.
