I might to a bit of research and see whats on that night, hopefully it won't be too busy. Potential for some pretty sweet shots in their back carpark though :D

Yes, I'm in. Maybe someone can show me how to use my DSLR properly?

Trackphotos will be the man to see, I know enough to get you started though :) Have you got a tripod?

You'll only need a tripod, camera and a lens that's 70mm or less. I haven't seen the jazz club car park, my guess would be orange tungsten bulbs. Easy to fix, but will have to wait and see how the backdrop looks.

I have a canon 550D, with a 18-55mm, a 55-200mm, a macro lens (obviously wont need that) & tripod. I only have the built in flash. I have no idea what orange tungsten bulbs are even.

Built in flash won't be used, probably no flash at all. I'll be bringing a few flashes anyway so if any external light is needed they should do. Likecrapweasel said, tungsten bulbs are orange street lights. Custom white balance should fix it up, but it might mess the colours up in the city background.

All about experimenting while you're there to see what works :)

Now I'm torn. Mountain run or photo run? Maybe we could combine the two.

I agree, why not do both?

If CaptainNate and the photo guys are ok with it, why don't both groups set off to their chosen event at the same time (8pm?), and we'll have a big group shot in the car park beforehand. Should be about 20 or so MX-5's all up at a guess - would make a great thread for the rest of the country to read! 8)

Oops! Didn't realize that I double-booked!

Cootha - Jollys - Cootha is roughly an hours trip (give or take 10 minutes for traffic/a break), but if people are interested in a mountain run before going off and taking happy snaps, we can always work something out for those who usually do the FOM runs.

Maybe those of us who are interested and meet up an hour early and go up ourselves, then meet everyone else back at Cootha for a new starting time of 8pm? I think it's a brilliant idea to have the two groups converge at the same spot :D

Our photorun would be done by 10pm, so if people are interested they could meet up with the mountain run for coffee and lies at the usual place, if they're having it! (If we don't dawdle at the locations!)

I'll also bring a microfibre cloth or two (or something) to quickly dust off the excess dust gathered on the mountain.

Sounds good cause I'm desperate for a mountain run.
