Half of the time it just comes down to bad luck, whether someone doesn't know the road or can't control their car if it swings out halfway through a corner.

I've been going up the mountains since I got my L's and ive seen good drivers that i trust make simple mistakes....doesnt matter if its a supra, silvia or skyline..even monkeys fall from trees.but at the end of the day The mountains isnt somewhere you should be going 100% it's so unpredictable, animals running across the road, cars reversing out of their driveway, leaves on the road or people hiking too close to the road...

I sold my supra and stopped running up with those guys, they were just far too intense and every night it got out of hand...just a little faster, just a little faster..

Next time you hit that 180km speed cut, think about what's over the crest..

Good advice, thanks.

I fall into the unfortunate category of lack of car control if the back end swings out as well as not knowing the road, hence holding up the NAs. Fortunately, I know my limits at this stage, so better safe than sorry, or is that better to be sorry for holding up others and stay safe?! My 100% I'd estimate to be probably 50% for the more experienced drivers on that road, on my second time up, I found the same f****** pothole again, and got a little unhinged on the downhill left-right s-bend again, much to my annoyance. Practice grasshopper!!

FFS, I've done the Nurburgring, yet that is less challenging during the day than Nebo at night!

Haha! Serious? In what car! I heard the traffic is pretty hectic on most days

Road knowledge will make up for car control...at first

Once you know the road start to control the weight transition of the vehicle. Like where to let off the brakes before the corner, what gear to be in on the exit, (Rpms) and what might be around the next corner! The mx5 is pretty light so it's suuuuper flick-able around the twisties so sometimes the car will activate drift mode by accident!

Throttle control isn't too much of an issue, I find I can just floor it through most corners...unless of course you're going down towards Samford. Down to the first hairpin is just pure dangerous then once you get over the bridge and after the traffic light theyre first gear/2nd gear corners with dereasing radii. since theirs a lot of run off and lots of tall trees the road stays wet for days. So engine braking is key. Use that rev range!

Also take note of the signs, a lot of them say 35km for the corner ahead

Yes, serious! Car was, wait for it... Stage 2 Suzuki Swift with Toyo R888s, race suspension & brakes and full cage, as well as 4 point harness. Absolute hoot!! (not very fast, but plenty enough for my limits!) Plus, the corners are a lot more forgiving as they don't have any unexpected potholes! We got lucky traffic wise, as it rained all morning and we weren't due to hit the track until 3pm, where it was all dry again - plus, it was a Monday. Planned ahead!!

Sounds like I need to learn the road first up then, thanks for confirming, as this was my biggest concern, with skill being important as well, tried the engine braking, but without the first two components it wan't much good!

Thank you for educating a newbie to these roads and tips in general, I really appreciate it!

Im still learning too Pete. Riding shotgun with zoomzoom a few runs ago was an experience and a half. Where you and I and 99 out of 100 people would lift off because we came in too hot or at the wrong angle, he would keep it planted. Sounds dangerous, stupid, and counter intuitive but its when you lift off or do panic jabs of the brakes is when your car goes awry. My fave youtube vid of all time is Stefan Roser on the 'ring in the RUF Yellowbird. Classic definition of what I just mentioned. I put up a link on here years ago, take a gander. And yes, at the end of the day, just like everything else, practice makes perfect so come out with us more often.

Time and place, wet road on Nebo at night, or anytime on Nebo, is not the time or place.

As much as I hate the hoon laws and how they could affect me with my cars, sorry but if I see you doing that where I and my family drive you will be dobbed in to plod for stupidity like that. I don't give a flying fig if your on a run with me on a friday night, if I saw you doing sh*t like that in front or behind me, I would be telling you why you are a hottie and telling you that plod is on his way to have a chat and hopefully take your car away.

Drifting all good, but go and do it at Willowbank, this is a huge part of why my hobby is under threat seeing pillocks doing this sh*t on a public road.

When we do the mountain run, we have fun, but we do it with sensibility and we come out the other side with our lives, our licenses, and our cars. If you don't respect Nebo & Glorious, they will get you in the end. Sh*t like that will only make it happen sooner. And posting a video like that on this thread only potentially makes targets out of us. As Matt said, It's dickheads like you putting our hobbies at risk. So basically take your sh*t elsewhere. :x

Good to see the offending post was removed from the thread, we certainly don't need crap like that up on this forum.
