Emailed my entry in yesterday, and ARDC already charged my card today.
Just be aware of one thing, it doesn't say anywhere I can see on the form that there is a credit card surcharge, yet they charged me $219.30, instead of the $215 listed.
Only complaining as believe it or not, $1 over my credit limit!!! Bank says all good though, as the transaction was pending, and I have put cash in to cover it.
Never been charged a surcharge from ARDC before, so I have sent an email off querying that.

Same here, Luke. They charged me the same $219.30. Please let us know the outcome of your email.

Ok, the outcome was good.
They refunded me the difference and acknowldged they should have put the surcharge details on the forms.
I wasn't to worried abour $4, was more worried about my credit rating. :)
Gotta love running things to the edge.

I just sent in my entry for Round 4 on the Brabham Circuit. Still a bit baffled how NSWRRC can charge $225 for half a circuit (North Circuit) while ARDC only charge $200 for the extended circuit??? Yes, ARDC are taking more entries (110) than NSWRRC (100), so the net income is about the same. However, the hire of the North circuit must be a damn sight less than the extended circuit. Gouge! :frown:

Oh and I'd always recommend paying by direct deposit for ARDC rounds. Not only do you save on the credit card fee, but if your entry form gets "lost" you will have a priority date with the direct deposit. Happened to me for the last round and it was all sorted over a phone call.

Anyone know if AASA licences are accepted? My L2S is expiring and not sure it is worth renewing. The website says a 'minimum' of an L2S. :?

It has to be a CAMS licence, AASA are not accepted for CAMS events.

SMP does have AASA events now...... but that's what I suspected. Looks like I gotta maintain the two licences :cry:

or get a PCC ... it is accepted by AASA (or was a year or two back). If you are going to race both CAMS and AASA that is the way to go.

Yeah should look into that. But from memory the PCC requires a few hoops to be jumped through and the events I have done with AASA count for nothing. 5 cams events from memory in a 12 mth period. And yes Cams licence still accepted at AASA events.

Edit ... Actually think its cheaper anyway to maintain my AASA and the L2S, rather than going full Cams licence.

We've been blessed with fantastic weather for Supersprints in the last couple years. However, the supersprint at SMP North Circuit yesterday made up for it ... with interest! Light rain for most of the day, with strong south westerly winds, made for miserable wet & cold conditions. The track surface at SMP doesn't cope with rain and there was plenty of ponded water all over the place.

Hearty congratulations to the grid marshall - he did an awesome job. Drivers were divided into run groups (rather than the usual colour groups), and his PA announcements were frequent, clear, and often highly entertaining. The conditions were so bad that he was often pleading for drivers to come to the grid, but then he did a great job of merging groups to fill the starting grid. Well done! :mrgreen:

I actually really enjoyed driving in these bad conditions. You had to be on your toes every split second, ready to catch the continuous stream of spontaneous variations in the car's attitude. On the main straight, the car would step sideways due to ponded water. Turns 3 and 16 were particularly treacherous, even once the track started to dry. I had a few minor off-track excursions - at turns 2, 4a, 4b, 17 - and plenty of big slides with zero traction - at turns 3, 16, 18. The bloopers video will be worth watching! But it's in conditions like this that MX-5s shine, and many of our drivers spent most of the day way up towards the pointy end of the timing sheet. Luke even managed to climb as high as 11th outright for a while. 8)

Thankfully, the track was almost completely dry by about 4pm, enough for the stayers to get one quick run in. With the many delays during the day to recover bogged or crashed cars (no MX-5s fortunately), most only had opportunity for four runs of 4-5 laps each (plus a full out-lap and in-lap). As testament to the conditions, there were few complaints about the lack of time spent on track!

The MX-5 Club scored some good points despite the lower than usual attendance - but not enough to stop ARDC from taking a slim lead in the club championship. Next round will be at SMP Brabham Circuit (Extended) on 16th June, and we're hoping for a much stronger showing of MX-5s.

That was a lot of fun! The rain was a real downer, but it did help to thin out the field. It also didn't help that we a lot of stoppages to recover broken/stranded cars, I am not surprised at stranded cars in those conditions, but I am a little surprised that so many cars broke, the wet is supposed to be less stressful than the dry, so I thought.

It certainly created some excitement - I had the wipers freeze on me as I exited 4B, they had been playing up earlier, but zero wipers in moderate rain, and the spray thrown up by other cars ... :shock: (and a big thank you to David for the offer of his wiper motor, fortunately it was not needed in the end). I also had one of the MW MX5s spin about a foot off my nose cone in the first half of the 4A/B flipflop, a Turbo Focus do the same at the same spot (good thing, as he was proving difficult to pass), and a supercharged Falcon V8 go straight on in front of me, withoout hitting anything, also at the same spot - and then I was passed under the yellow by a very naughty someone!

I had a great dice with a 3MPS, tried to outbrake him into T2 but had to yield, then outdragged him out of T2 and around T3, but again had to give way as he had the line into T4, so I gave him some space on the back straight and caught him on the exit of the last turn and we dragged all the way down the main straight as I edged ever so slightly in front and claimed the line into T1 when he braked earlier - I think he figured that if I wanted it that badly, he would let me have it :wink: It might have been a different story later in the day when the track dried ...

Memo to self - must get my camera working ...

3B was taken out by a Honda Civic, who had 7 seconds on me! Fortunately I pipped another two of the things for 2nd, giving me the class lead, for two weeks anyway. The Lotus only did 4 laps, don't know why, but it is not often a Lotus finishes stone motherless last :shock: :shock: - they were when the track was quite wet I suspect but I am happy to take these gifts. With the Lotus (which did a 1.06 at WP) and Civic both in attendance, the rest of us are going to fighting over the scraps they leave :frown: .

Guran, I think a special mention needs to be made of Mike's class win in SVB, knocking off a PRB!! ... and Ray's 1st in 3C. I see that in the series results, the Club had -
1st, 3rd, 4th in Class 1A;
2nd, 4th in 2B;
2th, 5th in 2C;
2nd, 5th in 3B;
1st in 3C;
2nd in 5B;
1st in SVb;
9th in SVC.

Club members are leading the class point score in 1B, 3B and 3C after 3 of 8 rounds, and in 5B and SVB our members are sitting only one point behind the leaders!

Bring on Round 4 :D

I'm gonna have to learn to use Youtube to show my one major off track excursion.
Lost it getting into the turn in at Turn 4 on my 2nd timed lap. :). Was ever so close to the wall that divides south and north circuit up.
Looking at the vids I only ever put 2 wheels off the track again in the same session at turn 3. Rest was clean bar the over and under steer every where.

And just to say opposite of Bryan, I love my old R888's, work in the wet and dry. I emphasize the wet part, they work better than Kumho KU36's do.
I think it was pretty much only the EVO's and cars with big wings who were quicker than me in the wet. Was running with the group 4 cars and beating them. All the power they had meant absolutely nothing in the wet.

And I got 5 runs in!!! Which was good because in the last session following Ralph around I almost took 2 seconds off my previous best time on KU36's last year.
