thats like the worst engine you could put in an mx5.

its heavy and makes lower power per litre.

I still like the idea of an engine that is almost identical to the NB 1.8, except lighter materials used where possible, and a v6, like 2.7L
Like, build an engine as light as possible, and then figure out the largest v6 you could build with those weight reductions as to match the engine weight of the 1.8
Probably only fit a 2.5L alloy thing, but some of these heavier engines look like they'd throw that finely tuned balance out.

ls7 apparently weighs 430lbs without gearbox. t56 apparently weighs around 125 pounds.

b6 turbo with gearbox was 407lbs.

per liter of displacement its way lighter.

I've test dríven an NA with a turboed familia gtx engine, that was completely mental, scarier than an FD RX7 I owned with a 13b & single T04.

I've currently got an NA with a stock 1.6,full stainless exhaust & a light fly; wouldn't change it for anything.

lol.. bloody hell Dan.
Could have given someone else a go at a guessing.

Can provide sound clip of what that motor sounds like with those pipes in the pic if interested.

It was in a friends merc 190e till the project was cancelled.

What makes you say that.

I have been in a number of bike engined clubbies, a mid engined mini with an R1 engine and in a Radical...They only work in fly weight cars that are being dríven flat out. Completely awful on the road at sane speeds and positively sluggish in anything over 500KG.

Power and torque output is not leaps and bounds ahead of a car engine but you do get a very light / compact engine. You do get a built in sequential gearbox which is always a riot but where bike engines have found their way in to heavier cars they don't last long at all.

200whp is 200whp.

It needs to be geared to work in an 800kg na. But 200whp is 200whp is 200whp.

An na has a 100hp 1.6L, a busa has a 180hp 1.3L. It would be a lot nicer in a road car with boost though.
