Bryan those comparative speeds are interesting. I have inevitably had the fastest max speed on the main straight on my fastest lap whereas you did not, though you had higher cornering speeds almost everywhere. Suggests better grip but greater rolling resistance. My max btw pretty much bang on 160. Pretty miserly really :?

Modded porky NA8 vs stocker minimalist NA6: mine is from last Sunday on totally shagged 4 year old R888s with a howling souwester blowing, so S1 and s3 are wind assisted. S10 is usually 142 kmh with me almost redlining third, but about 5 kmh slower all day that day. What I really want is a small tornado centred on the fishhook for just one lap.

Actually no, unless you can drag Wakefield into the northern hemisphere. Spin clockwise down under.

Clockwise is what I want!

I've taken the liberty of adding Hellmun's speeds from his videopost on this thread.

Don't get the clockwise thing. But then it's probably fairly safe to say it will remain theoretical :D
You edge Hellmun in a couple of corners there....

That's temporary, I think he's just working out how to manage the brakes and the boost. More interesting is that Guran would stay with us easily over the top of the circuit.

Yeah I noticed that, turn 4 in particular. I am guessing the lil' red machine has a bit of sideways attitude on that corner as he sets it up for the downhill.

He he he. Yep I like it at the top of Wakefield. Turn 3 to turn 5 is my favourite sequence out of ALL the tracks I've dríven.

Hellmun you are the best at late braking, which make me look pretty ordinary in this video. Also reckon this might be the last time I beat you at a club day. PB

Mark do you mind disclosing your boost pressure on that lap?

Its very quick, your braking skills are beyond amazing, I count over 1.5 seconds lost in a straight line, then gained back under braking comparing it to the NA6. In theory the NA should have high cornering speed than you with the aero and tyres however there doesn't appear to be much in it on the video(except T9).

It would be really interesting to see the same lap but with swapped cars :)

I was running 11psi all day which is my low boost, not sure that the car will be much faster on 14psi though as the boost tapers off back down to 12psi between 6500-7200rpm. So all it does is give me more torque which I already have too much of for the semi's with no aero.

I'll see if I can find a pre-boost log/video to marry together to get a comparison Phil. I definitely feel rusty and the car has more in it, it was a 18 month hiatus while the car was being built. Plus I was on full tread 3 year old V70A's so lateral G will get better in the next few trackdays as they wear a bit and stop overheating so easily. Having a little browse through the logs I see some much better sections in session 1. Lap 4 for instance has a 65kph Vmin through T10, 189kph Vmax down the straight and a 95kph T2 Vmin for an example. All the highest speeds are in session 1 but due to minor drifts and traffic the times weren't great overall. Me and Pat were both in traffic from Lap 3 onwards.

Patrick you have at least a full second just in practicing braking for T2 and T10. Plus nailing the hill section with that 4th gear short-shift got you nearly half a second to boot in the last session of the day. In good conditions that's straight into 1:05's... that's going to take a near perfect lap for me to get close to. I think it's going to be close and fun for a while yet... I won't really be doing much to the car other than trying to get reliability out of it either. After just that trackday my relay is still ruined, the rotors are cracked and my pads are on the backing plates. I think my rotors would've been glowing most of the day because my XP12 pads are rated over 1100C and they were falling apart and embedding themselves into the rotors.

Love the graphs - lots of food for thought.
Manga's increased grip in the higher speed corners over Guran's - is it due to - wider tyres and better shocks? maybe the LSD ?
~ 3 secs between Manga's and Guran's time from a relatively slight overall speed increase, then another 3 secs to Mark's, even though a much greater increase in straight line speed and (probably) braking. The % increases don't correlate.

About 3 years ago while analyzing a video I worked out I spent nearly 50% of my lap going straight - either
accelerating or braking, so more power was the answer as the brakes were good.

Also loved watching Mark attack corner 1 and slide from there on the brakes, into corner 2 to close the speed gap to Patrick.
Considering he had not been on the track for 18months and had a changed car he did well, I had not been to WPk for 18 months and was 1 sec off Pb.

It's really interesting looking at the graphs and comparing my speeds with others. It makes it very clear where I'm loosing time on the track and next time I'm at Wakefield I'll make a conscious effort to improve in these areas. I guess that's the benefit of analysing data such as this and on that basis I'd like to thank all those who have put theirs up for review.

I may as well throw my speeds up for general interest, but they're nothing too special when compared to those of my esteemed colleagues. Someone with a graph already established in Excel may wish to add my speeds if they see fit.

My car is a fairly standard SE with a Bilstein shock coilover conversion and thicker roll bars. Power wise the only modification is an AEM air filter; the rest is standard giving 131 rwkw. Tyres are 205/50 R888's, but they are worn right down. Although I've had marginally faster times through some corners on other laps, my fastest complete lap to date on Racechrono is 1:12.81.

S1: 164
T2: 87
S3: 138
T3: 115
T4: 88
T5: 81
S8: 131
T8: 65
S10: 144
T10: 60

These speeds are on the apexes? My comparo with all 86 rwkw:
T1-159.5 (my vmax, sad I know...) T2-90 T3-118 T4-90 T5-95 T6-107 T7-134 T8-75 T9-111 T10-60 (T10 clearly needs work...) for 1.11.58

The speeds are for Vmins through the corners and Vmaxes on the straights. They don't tell the full story, mainly beause they don't say anything about braking performance. Hellmun for example has always braked way deeper than most mortals and comes off the brake and onto the throttle fast as well.

Craig, check your S3 and S10 Vmaxes.
