Stubbs and Reynolds also drove extremely well in from what I know is a relatively stock NC! Shows there formula fee finesse translated, unfortunate for them to not make it through the last couple of laps... I'm they will be poking around the front regularly more often.

An awesome weekend of racing for team TargaRacing in the Winton 300.

This year saw 4 drivers join us for their first ever race. We were running 2 NC’s, the E46 M3 BMW and BMW 130. We were also crewing for our good friends and fellow racers Queenslanders, Peter and Robin Lacey (orange NA) and Tony Bonnano and Brian Ferrabee (yellow M Coupe).

The E46 very ran well in the first laps and Brian Anderson pitted on lap 12 to capitalise on the early safety car and get the 1st of the compulsory Division 1 pit stops completed. Terry Nightingale took over the driving and drove very well through the field to be the first of the pitted cars. All was going well till around lap 33 when the alternator failed and the car came to a stop at the back of the circuit. It was a shame but the car certainly showed its strengths and will be back again!!

Chris Romano, Nick Leonstinis and Anthony Painter combined to finish 5th in division 3 in what was Anthony’s first ever race! I think they were the only 3 driver team and as such they were always going to suffer having to make an additional stop for a driver change.

Father and son team of David and Rob Viner won the competitive division 4 in their first ever race in the NC!!

Paul Shacklady and Anthony Carter finished 5th in division 4 in what was Anthony’s first ever race!!

Tony Bonanno and Brian Ferrabee were going strong in division 3 until needing to make an unscheduled pit stop for extra fuel when the reserve tank pump dribbled to a halt.

Peter and Robin Lacey were also running very well in class until an on track hit with just a few laps to go caused damage to the steering and guard requiring an unscheduled pitstop for running repairs. Fortunately they were able to continue and limp the car home.

Many thanks to Zane, Gary, and Wayne for the excellent fuel stops and fantastic work in the pits.

It was great to have the whole team together with some new members. The laughter and fun is what makes these event so much fun and without you guys none of it would be possible!!

Hey Chris,

What happened with the M3's first stop, the livestream commentators were saying it was only 4:32?

We never found out. Race control was checking with timing at the time the car stopped so that was the last we heard of it. After the race we checked the in car and natsoft but no ones pit stops laps were recorded. Our pit monitor (green shirt lady) had the stationary time correct and matching ours and there was no report of speeding in pit lane.....

Bit of a strange one, it was hard to follow on the internet stream but they did gain a heap of time to the other cars in the pits but I just assumed they all went over 5 minutes until the commentators came out with that.

Who would have thought the a stock 1.8 mx5 would use almost 70l. of fuel to do just under 300km...I guess we know now...anyway apart from that the car didnt miss a beat, we had fun....look forward to the next one.

thanks to Winton for another fantastic event, once again you guys put all the other promoters and CAMS to shame with your great events and valve for money racing.

Well, boy racer, I think an NA8 might have to be on the cards for me... Too poor (read now paying for motorcycles) to afford an NC so I'm thinking I should copy the green machine... Std cams, big bore and add copious quantities of lightness!!
"yes yes yes! I know what I'm doing! Just leave me alone...

Winton 300 and fuel economy, more than one car ran out of fuel, I think fuel pump problems is Lotus talk for ran out of 98. We ran out 500m short 2 years ago in a NC, the person responsible shall remain nameless. He,s bigger than me.

Great week end of Motor Racing for all, the 300s have become the highlight of the years Racing,

Thanks to all the teams for all the effort, the pace is getting faster and the race is getting harder to win. I am sure 10 teams thought they had the means to win, so congrats to ROB and Nick.

Bring on the Wakefield 300 so we can all try again!
