Mx-5 interior questions

Postby Zabinskii » Sun Dec 15, 2013 10:24 pm

hey guys, i was wondering if the Nb carpet fits into an NA? i've seen a person do this but they had to cut two holes in it for the seat belts?

im just kinda curious if this actually works, because from what i've seen its easier to get good condition NB Carpet.

Also, does the NA have a connector regardless if the seats have the headrest speakers? or is there some installation required if the car doesnt come stock with them.

cheers :) :) :) :NA6:

Since there are many aftermarket carpet for NA, why don't you get one instead of get one off on an old NB?

Knox auto carpet have recently started supplying carpet for the MX5.

From memory they give you a choice of colour, and style of carpet (loop pile, cut pile, extra plush, etc, etc)

There aren't very many at all.

My GF is re-carpeting her NA, and she said there's basically nobody doing new carpet for them (I don't think she looked overseas though, postage would be a killer on something that size)

This is the website where I bought my NB carpet. Perfect fit and no modify need.

http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/cars/mazda/ ... 1989-1997/

Resonable price for quality, much better look and easier to clean than the OEM one, fast shipping as well, I remember I received it in less than a week.

But did you for it into an NA or an NB?

Why don't you get the NA one on their website?

How much was the shipping?? Seems like it's cost a fair bit for something of the size.

I started ringing around carpet suppliers a while back, and none were doing carpets for MX5s.

I could have got some from overseas, but the shipping is just far too much (Sorry, $200 is way out of my budget for just shipping on an item).

The other reason I didn't want to get carpet from overseas is that aftermarket carpets kits are notoriously a bad fit. I'm not saying yours isn't great, more that I didn't want to take the chance with spending a lot of money on something that may not be right. Returning things is a hassle, and I just didn't want to take the punt overseas.

The other aim of my resto is to use goods available locally. I know most people don't care, but that's just a personal goal I have with this. Hence, another reason not to buy from overseas.

Knox are now doing an NA carpet kit. $240. Melbourne based.

The other reason I didn't want to go with overseas is that I need to be able to assess the quality of the carpet, as it may not be what I'm looking for. I'm making my own up now as I can use whatever carpet I want, style it however I want and it will cost a 3rd of overseas.

I think you could try and look for a nb owner, i am sure the carpet will be very similar, should be easy to modify, you might need to cut some holes for the bolts

I just asked my trimmer friend, and he said he got a branch in Melb.
I saw their NA carpet before, is fantastic, easy to clean and really comfortable.

Here is the Melb branch number

Call Joe and mention Arull in Perth

Just let me know when you have any question.
