Love the simplicity.
Eligible Vehicles
The MX-5 CUP is open to Mazda MX-5s (and imported Miatas and Roasters). A vehicle is defined as
being an MX-5 if it is visually recognisable as an MX-5, retains the original Mazda MX-5 VIN, and has
a Mazda engine.
is that sentence the entirety of the Technical Regulations ?
To Confirm
Supercharged Mazda Engines are Eligible ?
TurboCharged NA's are Eligible ?
13B-REW and 13B-MSP Engines are Eligible ?
Existing Mazda Engines stroked to any capacity are Eligible ?
2.3 MZR Turbo Engine Eligible ?
And no limits on Minimum weight, Full Slicks of any width etc ...
Will this CUP be a self contained grid or just a Carrot offered over the top
of existing MRA/AASA races in which you seem to be eligible with any car
including a non Mazda engine powered MX5 so a non compliant car could
still grid up, win the race just not get a point towards the cup ?

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
Well I had a polite call from one of the cup organisers last week, and he answered most of your questions with a "yes".
In short, run what ya brung. Classes based on times. Anyone from any class may win the cup as points are awarded for class finishes and count to the championship. So consistency in class is key and breakout penalties apply of you go too fast.
Likely to produce some interesting strategy from those interested in winning the championship...

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
Hi Nathan,
What zossy1 has mentioned is pretty much right.
We'll accept any MX5 (whether Import or Aus delivered) as per the regs that has a Mazda engine.
so if it has a 121 motor , any series MX5 motor, a rotary, a turbo NA - that is all fine, it just has to be a Mazda engine.
No limits on weight or width as it is a time based system.
Cheers,
Chris
