Re: How to transport a car?
What makes this car so special that buying one in your own State isn't an option? I will assume you HAVE seen this car or have had a qualified person inspect it

Re: How to transport a car?
Not everyone has the time i.e. putting cars etc before work and commitments and not everyone wants to take risks in driving unknown cars interstate. Careful people don't drive cars without reg or not rwc or without insurance- others take risks and mostly don't have a problem but not always. None of the RACs will cover a car that is not legally being moved. Essentially its not a great idea buying from long distance and across borders and if it is done then it needs to be thought thru. There is probably not much if money is to be saved because freight or pick up and incidentals soon wipe out savings. Anyway the answer is if the car is to be sent via road transport then get a quote.

Re: How to transport a car?
At the end of the day, the car needs to be in a good condition AND at the right price in order to justify the purchase cost + transport cost + registration costs etc. (or subjectively unique in some way or another)
Otherwise, be patient and keep an eye out locally for something to come up in order to save the effort/hassle.

Re: How to transport a car?
The car was starting from $1500 bidding on ebay. Is a 1990 NA, quite low KMs.

OK, it is not registered so a road trip is out of the question. Your only option is to transport. Giving all the information makes it easier to provide advice!

Re: How to transport a car?
Can't see anything that makes that car special enough to transport. A "raced" na6 with unknown engine history that is running rough and had panel damage. Don't be blinded by apparent low kms.

Re: How to transport a car?
This is going to be brutally honest.
I'm pretty adventurous, but the only way I'd drive a 20 odd year old car across Australia is if I flew over, inspected it myself, and replaced anything necessary before the trip. I'd take a couple of spare tyres too.
Unless you want to pay someone to get it ready here and get permits for driving it over, your best option is transporting this. I know I'm going to be called the fun police here, but it's an unknown car. I have the skills and tools to tear down an engine on the side of the road to replace internals. Do you? Trust me, it's not that much fun on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. You need at least a pub over the road.
Yes, you can join the relevant RACQ type body, but it's also not much fun waiting for them to turn up.
Your best bet really is to transport it. Call Toll, etc. Get some quotes.
On the low price, I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole, unless I could inspect it on a hoist myself, or have someone I trust inspect it. Looks like it has a nice cooling leak there that's been there for a long time, btw.

With a transport company! www.e-go.com.au If this company cannot help you they will know someone who can.
