Hi Magnum,
My name has been dropped here a few times so I thought I'd just give you my experiences with seats for thr NC.
First up the leather NC seats are only leather on the faces. Sides and back are vinyl or as Mazda calls it "Maztex". Unless there has been plenty of leather conditioner applied to the faces over its life the leather as Paul said, gets hard. A motor trimmer can revive the leather in most cases.
I opted for aftermarket leather to cover the whole seat and the panels to the doors. That was way back in 2005. Cost was around $1,100. Now with 180k on board, many conditioning later of the leather, there isn't a crack or wear mark on the surface but they still aren't soft.
If I had my time again I'd have the leather with quality material inserts to the centre panels. That way the wear areas are covered by the leather and the comfort/coolness in the centre material panels.
With my height lambs wool was never a consideration. It's thickness would put me too heigh and after all it's a sports car not a mums taxi.
I have the other half of Guy's pair of race seats for the track and can honestly say for an old bloke like me, well let's just say I couldn't use them on a daily basis. I add extra padding for the trip to and from the track. There's no way I could drive 500 Kim and survive the trip.
So what to do? Go to a motor trimmer and check out the options. Have fun.
