If the rest of the world shares this ignorance is it telling you something. Also slightly racist?

That's a complete misrepresentation of what has has gone on at Qantas over the last 10 years and you would do well to look into the ongoing cash black hole that is Jetstar's international operations (try searching for "Jetstar Hong Kong Basic Law" and "Jetstar Airbus A320s idle" for the levels of incompetence shown - they're a good starter) before offering further opinion on Qantas.

this was supposed to be an adult conversation but it does not take very long to go down hill quickly. It opened about sub standard brakes which seems a good bit of info for those that might jump headfirst without checking the water depth.

Dupain, just so you know, Tony Simmons is a personal friend of mine, so please don't continue to tell me and others your story about Simmons Wheels...

They closed down. Where can you buy new Simmons wheels?

Your ignorance and arrogance is both annoying and unnecessary Dupain. I will leave this discussion to others.

The reason Simmons wheels closed down was so that Tony could retire, and enjoy himself racing his Formula Juniors. I wish I could live the dream like he is.

the centres are made overseas, as was the case before tony sold off parts of the business.

Retro brought the tooling for the smaller diameters and kept that part of the buisness running. Now the Simmons branding is back with only size 17 and up.

Dupain wrote:So you guys say its ok now, even though theses Chinese wheels are brought over and rebranded as Simmons and because they have the words Simmons they are like the original ones? Are knock offs the same thing?
I think you are confusing knockoffs with legit products.

Nothing wrong with a chinese product that says what it is.

The issue is a chinese product that say what it is, but is really something else. That is a knockoff.

I don't think Dupain has the foggiest notion about the points he is putting forward. As Greg said stealing other companies ideas and designs is not supportable on any ethical or fair business grounds at all. It is pretty obvious that if a product bears a logo or name of a reputable company and that is being offered by another entity who has does not own the brand it will be taken by many as the real thing. You cannot legally do this however the ability to take action against these rogues is often far too expensive and slow. These things are going on all around the world and its often nearly impossible for amateurs to pick the fake from the original product.

Further to Mr M's post, Let us not forget the quality issues. A great example was GMC power tools, made in China, outwardly identical to Bosch products (less colours) sold through a major retailer and replacement guaranteed, the retailer stopped stocking them because the on costs in dealing with warranty claims was crippling.
When unscrupulous entrepreneurs stop knocking on Chinese doors with samples and have stuff built to cost over quality processes will improve and products will get better, but until then I will not be fitting "Lota" wheels and "Blembo" blakes.

"You have to understand the Chinese culture. For us it is a no no but for them they EXPECT it. That's what I'm saying. Some of these fakes make it t our shores but it's the consumers choice to buy them". Dupain
Are you in a position to be able to make a statement like this? It is a hell of a long way from your point that, "Brakes are brakes", in fact if I had a dog even he would be amazed at how stupid your argument is!

Problem is he agrument keeps changing. We've gone from all products, to just fakes now.

Is he just trolling to get a rise out of us?
